What G4s should I avoid customizing??

Hey all!

So I've been away from the custom world, and am slowly getting back into things. I've been noticing that some of my common ponies that I've baited before (Like, Lilly Blossom, doh) are becoming more hard to find. Besides the obvious ones like the SDCC Ditzy Doo Hooves, what should I avoid?

I hear the ones with the bangs are more rare... is this true? How about the molded ones that originally came out right after the show?  How about blind bags?

Lily Blossom, Blossomforth and those with bangs are the ones i'd avoid

Yeah, I'd avoid ones with bangs (a mistake I made once) and Lily Blossom, Daisy Dreams, Star Swirl, and Rainbow Flash.

Well, I think that for regular brushables, it would be easiest to just stick with the Mane 6. There will never be a shortage of those, that's for sure. 

Since there aren't all that many poses for BB, grabbing one from the current sets would be a pretty good idea.

Awesome, how about the different versions of fluttershy? ie, dark pink mane vs light pink. Any difference there?

Well, light haired Fluttershy will be more common, because that's the one they are currently making, but right now there isn't that much difference.

Good to know! Well, I guess I'll just put some of these ponies aside, and use some of the newer ones I have as baits! Thanks all! (and if anyone else has more recommendations of what not to bait, please add it to the thread!)

I'd say one not to bait would be Diamon Rose and Cherry Pie... many of us could not find them in our areas

I would agree to stay away from Diamond Rose and Lyra Heartstrings. Maybe Trixie as well, but she may be a bit easier to find. I also don't know about the TRU exclusive ponies like Lemony Gem and DJ-Pon (though for DJ I'm sure you could use a Rarity as a bait instead), perhaps someone else has a better idea as to how difficult or easy those ponies are to find (all ponies are apparently hiding from me so I'm a bit clouded from that pov xD )

You know, those two I saw everywhere for weeks, then once they came out with the endcaps with the posters on them, they kinda disappeared. So, good to know, I won't bait either of those two, for the meantime at least. (cherry pie and diamond rose)

I haven't seen the single Lyra or Trixie as well, but I have seen the collector's set ones but wouldn't bait them anyways since #1 I know they are TRU exclusives and don't bait exclusives unless they are SUPER common, and #2 glitter. I hate baiting things with glitter!!!

OH I thought of one... what about the fashion sized ponies? I see now AJ is going for quite a bit as is Rarity... should these generally be avoided or are there some common ones?

For fashion styles, you're right about AJ and Rarity being the hardest to find (since they were released first) so I wouldn't bait them.  The main 6 are rumored to have a re-release again though so I'd wait and see if AJ and Rarity show up again.  From my personal experience the fs Luna single (not the canterlot one) that came out recently is a bit harder to find as well.  I think Shining Armor (and Cadance) are okay, they've been out long enough and seem to be restocking well (here at least) if you really need a white fs base.

For playful pony size, Lily Blossom, the international exclusives (Rainbow Flash, Daisy Dreams, Starswirl, Skywishes, and Star Dreams), Sweetie Swirl, Starbeam Twinkle, the TRU favorites collection ponies, and I'd hold off on the newest wave (Lyra and co) until they are more common.  Some of wave 3 (Blossomforth and co) are harder to find now as well so I'd avoid them.  I'd agree it's fine to bait a Fluttershy with darker hair, since even though she was an older release people prefer her with the lighter hair so she's not any more desirable.

I know hoe you feel- when I fist saw the photos of her I wanted to make a G4 Rapunzel with her- but I only ever found two. I opened one and left the other in box- but now I can't bait her seeing as so many people had issues finding her :/

From what I've seen at the store, Fluttershy is a safe FS to bait if you need pegasus.
