You guys have fun.  I have more than I can keep up with now...and usually they fizzle out fairly quickly anyway...but its fun while it lasts.  I have set up pen pals here that I did write and they never bothered to write me back.  Thats just not right. If you don't want to be that persons pen pal after you get that first letter at least write them and say that will be your only letter as you realize you can't do the pen paling thing.  It costs more than 1.00 to ship a letter to another country...so only sign up if you are willing to be a true pal.  People do get busy and can't write back for a while and thats perfectly okay, but if you want to end your penpaling relationship at least let them know you can't do it anymore.  I have had a pen pal for years in Washington State and all the sudden out of no where I never heard from her again.  I mean 10 years of writing and boom she is done. I worry, but she won't write me back...not much I can do about that.  I just think its nice to let someone know if you are not going to continue.

That's horrible! And so unneccesary too! I've never had a penpal gone MIA. But then again, I've had only 1 penpal in my life, and we're still writing. Only it's only a couple of letters a year since she starten a family and have 5(!) kids to take care of <3

Rest assure, I won't be goin MIA on a penpal. I love getting ( and writing) letters to much

I'm sorry to hear that. It happens, unfortunately. I can't understand your pal not writing back all of a sudden, gives me the creepy feeling something is not right with her..
I also had a penpal in my original topic but she never wrote me. Luckily i now have 2 penpals and with one of them i write quite a bit! We've been writing for a few months and have sended eachother presents I know it's out there, sorry you haven't met the right pal yet!

I have been penpalling for years on and off and I used to be so frustrated at people going MIA... until I recently realized I had kinda done the same to one of my pals. -.-' She's an Arena member too, or at least was... this was a few years back on the old Arena. We exchanged a couple of letters until I started my teacher training year at uni and suddenly didn't seem to have time or inspiration/energy for anything, all my creative hobbies like deco swapping suffered, and even after that it was difficult to get back in the mood. In addition to not finding inspiration for letter writing, I also had made an error in recording the date of receiving her letter - by a year. *facepalm* I finally wrote her last week after, what, 2½ years? and I'm keeping my fingers crossed she hasn't moved, or that the letter will find its way to her new address. I feel so bad about that, it's the first time I'm the one who's guilty of not writing back.

I'm also guilty of having too many interests and having too much on my plate at all times, but if there's anyone who'd still like to be my pen pal, I'd be happy to have one or two more since I'm finally getting back into the groove. I am slow but you're free to poke me if I don't seem to respond fast enough. You can find me in various places online and I can even add you on FB if you wish so there's no more risk of going MIA. It would require something pretty tragic to cut me away from the Internet, lol.
