Okay, my whole life I picked up ponies whenever I could find them - mostly in banged-up shape from the bottom of toy bins at yard sales or etc. I probably have 20-something G1 ponies from decades of casual searching. I am just recently within the past few months, taking my pony-search to the internet.

I had to make a 1 pony per week - limit with my fiance' lol. (He has warhammer, card games, comics, transformers, video games, etc.) So I have been trying to limit myself to only ones I really really want - days of searching and investigating before buying just 1 pony, which is a good thing.

So far I got a Kingsley, a HT Tall Tales, and Milkweed & Tumbleweed arrived today.

I am trying to be super picky since I am paying a hunk of money for a pony (in comparison to the $1 bins).
I think I have done well so far, but almost too well!

When I got Kingsley, I gently scooped him/her up and handled with care, its so very pristine.
I got Tall Tales, and she is in even better shape - so hard to bring myself to check out her tail mechanism lol.

Milkweed & Tumbleweed arrived, from a non-expert selling random knick knacks on ebay.
It was a bit of a gamble, but their hair is so VERY pink still. I just opened them and they are, dare I say, flawless bodied. I have never had a pony before with so much blush! Symbols are pristine - I can even see that Tumbleweed's stamp was a bit off for one cutie. Their manes are a rat-nest and a bit dry, but as pink as they appeared to be! They really need some hair-care, someday, but I can hardly bring myself to handle them since they're so tiny and perfect. T_T

What to do???

Well, just remember that they were made to be handled by kids...careful handling is not going to mess them up  Just make sure your hands don't have ink or paint or whatever on them and try not to rub over the symbol over and over.  And you should be fine.

I usually get the ponies so grimy that I don't want to touch them. LOL

Having a few that nice is wonderful... but I like that many of mine are imperfect!

It's always so exciting to get minty ponies!  I have quite a few that are in just beautiful condition and I adore them!  You won't hurt them by touching them, just enjoy your pony luck!  Congrats  :)

Always such a thrill to come across a G1 in fantastic condition - you must be chuffed! I wouldn't worry about giving your little twins a clean and brush. You can be very gentle in your cleaning methods, and standard soaps/shampoos won't affect the colour of their hair at all  :)  If they are really tangled, try slathering them in conditioner and using a comb to brush them out gently during the bathing process. They'll likely be even more stunning for a light clean!  If you pluck up the courage, have fun!  ;)

Ooh, congratulations! That's exciting!

I've had that happen, too, you're not crazy. I try to get flawed or worn-out ponies because I like to play with them, and since all my ponies live in a plastic tub until I get my own place with a pony shelf. I got some wingless flutters. Forget-me-not needed a wipedown, but Rosedust was perfect and both of them had pristine hair! I'm positive the seller gave them a great hair wash. Now I have to very carefully put them away at the end of the day, they get special corners in the bucket to themselves! So does Baby Glory, I'm so paranoid I'm going to mess up her factory bob. When you have tail rust and cancer, then you've gotta have something to be proud of, right my dear Glory?
I'll put something here some time

Thanks everyone, ^_^ I am admiring them gently until I get more courage to fix up their hair at least - then hope for a photo-shoot. So far I have tried my hand at cleaning up a baity baby surprise, and a grubby blue (greenish) ember. So far so good...

I really want to clean up my beat-up childhood SS Fifi... one of these days.
When I got her as a young one at a yard sale, I could barely guess her symbols, I was convinced she was a unicorn with unicorns on her lol. But then one day I discovered the internet. :P
