I've just started reading Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. I love it
I'm reading City of Secrets - the 4th book in the Stravaganza series by Mary Hoffman.I think a lot of you would LOVE this series! It's fun. Start with the first book. It's about kids (teenagers) from 20th century London find talismans brought to their world and the talismans transport them to 16th century Italy but in an alternate dimension. There is crossover on plots and characters throughout the series but each book focuses on one central character and introduces a new "Stravagante" (person who can move between worlds).

So far, so good (though I have to confess: the sparkly cover sold me on it... who me, magpie?). I just got to the part where Lucian has been told he's a Stravagante.

@ Rosencrantz: Ooo, Dinotopia was great! Mr. Gurney made several, and there are even novels set in the same world. Thanks for posting the art; I need to find those for my son, I'm thinking...
I finished it & really enjoyed it! I'd seen the film but the book is definitely a little different. I think I like both though, but in different ways

Sophie and Howl are minor characters in it but if you like Diana Wynne Jones' writing style, it's a treat!
