I don't see a thread devoted to this, and with the opening ceremonies tonight, I thought we needed a thread just for these topics!

First up: I want to know, are any of the announcers going to mess up and not say "Olympic Games" but accidentally say "Hunger Games," because I have totally messed it up in my head already!

"And may the odds be ever in your favor!"
I was expecting that too. XD
I admit during the country procession my brother and I kept jokingly yelling out countires like 'Vulcan' 'Hoth' 'Panem' etc

I can't watch online supposedly because I dont have cable. Stupid NBC! So I am watching via BBC streamed to my tv.

Stupid NBC indeed. I'm still outraged by their "coverage" of the opening ceremony. They shouldn't be editing things out, ESPECIALLY not the terrorist tribute (because "it wasn't tailored for US audiences")
Can you imagine if America was hosting the Olympics and had a 9/11 tribute that BBC edited out?

I read a while ago that they edited things out!  I wonder what else was missed.

Surprising that the Queen has such skills at her age ;) That was really clever :)

There is a lot of talk about Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte and their little rivalry. I found this video on youtube, and it is HILARIOUS! Had to share :) Call me Lochte

You can find the tribute on Youtube.  It really was a shame that it was edited out.  (It's actually one of my favorite hymns!)

Thanks for sharing this, it was great! XDDD

I watched swimming and gymnastics last night. A lot of girls kept going out of bounds on the floor exercise! It stinks that only 2 per team can go to the all around? :cloud:= drama! I suppose either way it'd be drama but can't win them all I guess?

Time for beach volleybal!! <3

And that really stinks about the editing NBC, seriously?

What a shame for the US Equestrian Team.  It was definitely the right decision for Boyd Martin to pull up Otis, and it sounds like with some rest he will be okay, but with the year Boyd and Otis have had (Otis was one of two horses to survive a barn fire where Boyd was boarding, eight were killed; his father was killed in a cycling accident five weeks later), I had hoped they would get some kind of a break :(  He and Phillip Dutton are local to me, it would have been awesome to watch them go far!

There's Olympics mania in my house. I don't think I've missed one event that's been on so far. The opening ceremony was hilariously British even though I was a bit apprehensive at the start. I got tickets to the teams showjumping on Monday and I seriously can't wait!

Haaaa. Poland beat your arses at beach volleyball. And normal volleyball too, I bet.
Apparently some people ae confused because, according to them 'Poland don't have beach!!!11'
Yeah, 400km of it. What is the Baltic, a puddle?

I jsut like watching the fencing. It's kind of amusing for me because all the fencers I know are calm and composed, and then you get the youngins on TV who utterly flip out when they win. It's adorable.

Did anyone else absolutely cry when Rowan Atkinson just came on? I think I stopped breathing. The conductor's FACE...

Gymnastics was great! I was so worried they would all go out of bounds again!! I was screaming and jumping with excitement!

The russians! Oh man, I cringed when (forgot her name ; ; poop) a girl did so well on the balance beam but then dismounted off side! I was so sad, it was a beautiful performance!

Man I was mad at our volleyball players but happy for Poland! I was more concerned with Gymnastics and Women's Beach Volleyball sooo XD

and Rowan! I was totally stoked to see him and it was silly <3
