That really sucks for everyone who was not able to get her...especially after standing in lines for such a long time.  How frustrating that must be! :(  :(

Something else to keep in mind... Hasbro had already said that there would be some released on their website after the fair and ComicCon, right?  What better way to get traffic to their site (albeit it seems like it was overloaded a bit haha) and also potentially buy (or at least see) OTHER products, too?  For those dead-set on getting her from their website, they probably had Hasbro on their mind for the majority of the day.

Also, keep in mind that bad advertising/word of mouth can be as effective as good/positive advertising.  What are people talking about right now?  What's the hot topic? =  Hasbro.  Ponies.  Yes, maybe at this point in time it's "negative," but the brand NAME is out there.  It kind of revolves around the thought process of - if you can't be famous, might as well be infamous, right?  And why is that?  Because people are TALKING about YOU (or, in this case, your company and product).

I know it may seem totally backwards for us, but it's just another potential thought Hasbro might have had.  I actually do think they know what their doing (what exactly it is, though, I am not sure LoL!).

PIIIIIIIIIIINKIE PIIIIIIIIE!!!!

This is so much win. :) :like:

I wonder.  If the gray pegasus is so darn popular, perhaps Hasbro may consider selling a version of her to the general public?  Maybe not in the fancy box, but as a website exclusive?  Or perhaps a regular brushable size rather than the FS size?  If they wanted market research, well by howdy they got it.  She was one of the most desired SDCC exclusives this year (according to at least a few websites), and her ebay price keeps climbing.  Hasbro sure isn't seeing any profits from the Ebay sellers.  If they released a "non-special edition" on their site, that would eliminate the "controversy" of having her sold in stores (heaven forbid that children see a googly-eyed silly pony, THE HORROR!) but collectors and fans alike could own one.  And Hasbro gets all that green money.

That is EXACTLY what I have been saying!!  It's a win-win!

Maybe they will give her a tote bag or something as an accessory...then a lot of people (especially the "mega fans" of that pony) who bought the exclusive will ALSO buy the common release.  Tons of money for Hasbro then!  Double sales! Good thinking :)

If they released a regular sized brushable of Ditzy then everyone who had the FS one would still want the smaller brushable as well. I still think Hasbro will release her (and Minty) at some point in the future. They would be bonkers not to. I understand they have to have the mane 6 on sale all the time as children are getting into FiM all the time, so they want to see them on the shelves, but other BG characters will be released in the future that we don't know about yet.

I can't believe how badly Hasbro seemed to have done this, hopefully next year will be better for you all :)

Sorry for your woes. I'm torn on Comic Con. I want to go some year but I also know that I would be standing in line for exclusives for most of the show and what would be the point of going. I know in past years the MLP exclusive has stuck around for months on the website so if supply is low it is because the demand wasn't there in past years. Also there is no adjusting the quantity in the final months so selling out at the MLP fair or a recent buzz on the Ditzy leading up to the con means nothing because they can't whip up more. This whole Brony craze I'm sure is a marketing analyst's nightmare because there is not a lot of precidents to look to judge when and if the bottom is going to fall out. Will they collect like boys or girls? Will they continue to grow in size or will they stay a smaller group? As far a the rudeness of the people at the booth it is understandable to me. After hours of people in line clamoring for toys getting upset that stuff is selling out or that they can't enough of what they want. I'm sure my resolve would be tested severely tested dealing with that.
