WAY TO GO SurfStar! A 4.0 in grad school is incredibly impressive to me! And Happy, Happy Birthday! Hope you have the bestest one!

Shockpony, I can totally relate to the anxiety. Way to go for not letting it stop you!

I just LOVE reading all these wonderful things everyone is saying about themselves. I know it's tricky when we're all so used to talking down to ourselves, that's why it's so great to have this opportunity to practice being nice to ourselves.

So for today, I'm going to say:

1. I work hard and do a good job at anything I have to do.
2. I make sure I'm doing the things that are most important to me (family, friends) and don't worry about the stuff I can't get done.
3. I am a happy person.

Had specialist appointment today, the good news is that they're not putting me in the hospital this week.. *breathes sigh of relief* still in trouble, though. I can't engage properly as my weight interferes with my sleep (you need calories to sleep - fun fact!) and bc of the decrease in brain mass. And as I'm still not having the agreed intake there may be problems if I exercise more / end up losing more. So on thin ground at the moment.

Dietician's appointment tomorrow, emergency meds review soon, 1.5 points today!

I know you love exercise BrightSide and while that's awesome, I think you might wanna consider giving yourself points for NOT exercising, or only doing strength training things that build muscle until you reach a healthier weight. Because right now it seems like you exercise so much that you're probably burning off at least half if not all of the calories you're taking in.

Rhini, I know that would be the best.. :c It's just at the moment it's the least destructive way I have to cope with things. It's like a compulsion, you know? Ends up being a warfield in my mind if the disorder doesn't get what it wants, so to stifle it I have to keep going. Which isn't fabby either really! My medical team know at the moment I can't stop.. but eventually we hope to work something healthier out. :]

Cubby, aw bless you! :hug: Oh, but if you make the exercising fun.. perhaps then you'll be more inclined to do it? ^.^  Like if you have a wii, it's a great way to get active.. If not, exercising moderately whilst watching TV? DDR has been suggested a lot in this thread.. and it's an awesome cardio exercise! If you like water, how about going to a pool? Roller skating always looked fun to me.. just can't afford quad boots at the moment! Do something you enjoy, it does make it a lot easier.

I have to agree with Rhini. Justifying excessive exercise is justifying purging, just in a different way. If you keep letting the disorder control you, you will never get better. You will have to find the willpower to stop the cycle or nothing will ever change.

I also feel that Rhini is right about the points. Excessive exercise is hurting you, not helping you. Enabling your exercise is enabling your condition and justifying your habit of purging.

There will always be an internal struggle, but stop letting the illness win. :hug:

It's extremely difficult at the moment, is all. I haven't energy or the strength to fight for the moment, it really takes it out of you. Anorexia's control is ridiculous currently - is why they're giving me greater levels of support, and monitoring things very closely. I'm out of my depth.. sadly it's currently above a level which I can consciously choose to rise above and battle. Thought processes become irrational and out of hand. I recognise all of the logic, the facts and the figures, but there's simply no connection between what I want and what Ana wants.

My team hope that eventually if we can get to a point of slowly turning things around (refeeding, basically) that the exercise will also be curbed. But we all recognise that with how I am at the moment, it's certainly not going to happen quickly.. They're just trying to keep going at the moment, to sustain me here instead of on a ward. That's what we don't want.

Unfortunately, exercise (and the occasional purge) does not compliment all of this work.. I guess they expected setbacks, and complications. As long as it doesn't start seriously impacting my health we're trying to work around it for the time being.

I do have the Wii fit, though it's not set up at the moment.  XD  Skating too, I just wish tehre was a place nearby.  And I LOVE water.  Again...no pool nearby.  ARGH  Stupid pools.  lol  Thanks for the encouragement!

As for venting...I find that hitting something very hard with a hammer helps...  Maybe you have some scrap wood or something you can pulverize when you need a release?  Only wear goggles if you do something like that.

It's just a suggestion. You should reward yourself with points when you do something positive, and right now exercise isn't a positive. You don't get points for purging, and the exercise is just another form of purge. It just makes me so sad every time I hear about you running your body ragged with exercise :( Just as I'm sure you sad to hear about all the bad things the rest of us eat and struggle to stop eating.

I really can relate, I have severe depression and there have been many times when I just like the anxiety and bad feelings take the reins and completely control my life. That's how I got so overweight in the first place. But the second you tell yourself you don't have any control, well then you don't. You've gotta remember that YOU are the one drivin this here pony train and Ana can only take the reins if you hand them over.

I envy all of you who like your legs!  At 5ft 2" mine are nothing to write home about.  My boobs on the other hand... lol
