How many dollies is too many?

I'm utterly in love with Frankie Stein, and I'm constantly looking at pics of different versions of her, and there's about 6 of them that I need. This got me thinking, how many of one character could I actually own before it starts getting... well, ridiculous.

How many dolls do you own of one and the same character?

Please note, I'm not just talking about Monster High here!

Also, pics are highy encouraged!

I only have two MH dolls right now total... Spectra and Rochelle. I did have the DT girls and Operetta but I decided to just get the dolls I utterly want and need. I have a Signature Ghoulia on the way to be my third and am wanting a few others (with CAM Sea Monster with soft head being #1) and then CLOTHES. CLOTHES AND SHOES. I'm probably going to have a hard time not getting the DDG Spectra but I am just not the type to have more than one of each girl. :/

However, I don't think there is such thing as too many. c:
...Unless you somehow completely run out of living space..

i quite like lagoona and decided that i'd like all the versions of her. but i'm rather lazy about it and only have three. i simply cannot justify the price for dawn of the dance, i don't want the hydration station, just the doll, etc.

but i don't believe there is a too many dollies number!

I have about four to six Rose Petal dolls stashed around, and doubles of many of the other girls. I would never *not* buy one if I saw it for sale someplace! (I'd love to share pics, but my memory card isn't working!)

I have one of each character I like, though I wouldn't be suprised if I end up with two Clawdeens - I want Howleen.

I think too many happens when you run out of space. Or even better only when you keep getting them instead of saving money for food/other important things.

There's nothing wrong with a big collection so long as you're responsible about it.

I have multiples of most MH characters ... I can't resist new faceups and hairstyles, not to mention the clothes!!

Frankie is a great example - I mean, how can you not have the original? So classic! And the B&W version of the original is just amazing, impossible to resist - and the Dead Tired version, such soft pretty make-up - and the classroom version, OOOH those bangs and vampy make-up - and the B&W SS version with that fabulous little bob, and and and and

Well, I don't collect MH anymore or anything other dolls really attached to characters so this doesn't really apply to me at all. Livs are kind of, but their characters aren't exactly serious and all the releases look different anyways.

But in general, I agree with Aellos. As long as you're not giving up food (food you need, giving up treats is fine) or not paying your bills, a collection of however big you want is fine. I could never imagine (or want to) owning thousands of dolls, but I feel the same way about ponies and I know some people own thousands of those.

p.s. my vote is wrong. I meant to put 5-10 (9 current, 1 custom wip) but there will be new Ghoulias out soon, so I'll hit the 11-20 soon enough

Being a lover of pony armies, I am very pro-army when it comes to any collection. I think if you love something enough to want a LOT of it, then why not?! I don't believe there's a set limit. I believe you can have as many as you want and it will never be "too many".
