Can the Dream Castle be bleached?
« on: April 26, 2012, 02:33:36 PM »
I just got my very first Dream Castle.
as lovely as it is, its got a fair deal of yellowing.
I heard a rumor that it could be bleached and returned to its pink color.
Is this true?

Pix for fun!!

Cute! Congrats...the Dream Castle is the best playset!

I dont think you can "re-pink" it unfortunately...bleech/peroxide will take all the colour out including the pink probably! I have seen white playsets and hard plastics changed from yellow back to white but never a coloured plastic...

Maybe someone can offer a different option though!

Someone had quite a bit of success using hydrogen peroxide with a Lullaby Nursery, which has the same color roof as Dream Castle's base... I think it'd be worth a try, in an inconspicuous spot.

Thinking of trying with one my my Dream Castles, I've got two spares anyway. X3

Bleaching wont BUT soaking it in hydrogen peroxide and letting it sit in the sun will work!  I'm doing that right now with my petite pony castle and it's working wonders!  I'm so excited by the bright pink and yellow colors that it's revealing!

Emery had great success with creme peroxide on playsets.

It won't take the pink out, it gets rid of the yellowing. Just paint the peroxide onto the playset, changing it every few days. I'd recommend 6%, it might take a bit longer, but is safer. Sun isn't needed, heat will help the peroxide to work, but dont add artificial heat.

Soaking in peroxide is all fun, but be cautioned if you have stickers on the inside!

Sadly my castle has no stickers :/
Does anyone know if someone sells repo's of the stickers?
I vaguely remember seeing someone sell them for the nursery.

I'm so tempted to douse my whole castle in a bucket of peroxide, but i guess I'll settle for the thin pink wall thingy. lol

You can print new stickers for your castle. =3

I believe the person who restored the Nursery used peroxide cream and painted it on, rather than trying to immerse the entire building.  That would take a LOT of peroxide!

Well, no stickers, why not try soaking? Get a big 'ol tote and have fun! At least peroxide is cheap.

P.S. Seems like Aflame is curious where you got the castle from? :o)

Has anyone ever tried color safe bleach on ponies/playsets? Just curious if that might work - I actually have no idea what color safe bleach is, but it works really well for my clothes XD

I'm the one who did the Lullabye Nursery. :D  I donated some photos of it to FarDreamer's site: http://mlppreservationproject.webstarts.com/accessories.html  Using the peroxide cream did cause the parts where it pooled on the Nursery roof to lighten more than the rest, but it's not that noticeable and shouldn't happen if you soak it.  I'm actually not sure if I ever took pictures of it put back together after I finished.  I do have these pictures showing the change in the pink sign from the School of Dance:

You can see pink where from where a dance tag had been stored in it while the rest is downright orange.

Now no more orange!
It's not as bright a pink as another one I compared it to, but it's still a great improvement.  :P
