Taobao Prototype/Variant List and Information

Wow the little heads on bigger pony's is crazy.

I've wanted to purchase from Taobao before and I was wondering if anyone here could give me any advice?

Here's some easy steps/info to follow:
1. What items do you want to buy?  If you are after ponies you can find locally, trade people for, or find locally in the future, you are better off going that route rather than buying from Taobao. It is most likely cheaper.
2. Do your research.  If you do not have a Chinese bank account/do not live in China, you need to pick an agent.
a) Picking an agent: I think it was "BuyFromTaobao" that people were recommending the most from here. Pick one that you can pay for by Paypal if you are nervous about using your credit card.
b) How much can you afford?  Remember that the prices really stack up. You pay the price of the pony, shipping within China, shipping to you, and a service fee which is likely a % of the total price.
3. Sign up with the shopping agent of your choice.
4. Search for ponies. "My little pony" will get you results on taobao.
5. Order the pony you want from your agent and pay them an installment.
6. Your agent orders the pony, then receives in the mail.
7. You are notified and pay shipping to you and the rest of the fees, then they ship it to you.
8. Voila you have a pony.

Hmm. Me thinks some factory workers are realizing people will pay for franken ponies and are making a small amount of 'errors' on purpose....

Maybe they were a test to see how the eyes and cutie mark look on the blue and green ponies. Yeah, I don't think we have seen any wrong cutie marks, just absent ones.  I like the Twilight and Rarity eyes.

Yes, I think all cutiemarks before belonged to a correct body. May be it has something to do with new bodies. And it seems like their eyes are wrong too...

Hehe, well maybe so, but the ones that look like they put random parts together aren't any more expensive than their legitimate counterparts. In fact, a lot are cheaper. You would think they would jack up the price a little if they were selling them as "exclusive factory errors".  It seems maybe like they are desperately trying to make a buck off of random parts that would otherwise be just garbage.

On the same note, yes, some of the sellers from China (especially on ebay) are touting their wares as "Prototypes" to make them more appealing, even if there is no difference from the regular release.

Anyways, I just wanted to pop in to say that the blog is up to date now.
