What's your favorite part of collecting?

There's so many different aspects of pony collecting! Going out to look at garage sales/flea markets/thrift stores, hunting online for finds, trading, restoration, cleaning, organizing, meetups, customs, so many things!


For me it's definitely the hunt! 


I go to thrift stores 3 or 4 times a week, and every flea market I can find. It's like searching for hidden treasure, and that rush when you see a beautiful little face peering up at you is just the best! I also feel like I'm giving them a home and a purpose again


My other favorite part is probably restoration. I love taking a mangy flea market find  and making her back into a stunner. I always take before/after pictures to document the results.

I don't really get to hunt for ponies that much. The only pony things I ever found at a thrift store was a sitting G3 Rainbow Dash plushie, a bath time G3.5 newborn Rainbow Dash, and a newborn talking G3.5 Cheerilee. (The only one I ever actually got was the sitting plushie.) I guess ponies are popular in my area, either that, or they're unpopular and no one has any to donate. I haven't been to any flea markets, though, now that I think about it, that might be really fun and I'd love to go to one.

So, instead, the fun part of collecting for me is ordering on eBay.

I agree that the thrill of the hunt is part of the fun. Most of the thrift store people recognize me now as "the pony lady" and I love to skim the toy section for someone nice to take home with me and restore to her former glory. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, especially since my pony empire is one that I've built almost entirely by myself. My parents found a few at some yard sales for me and my mom picked up the McPonies when she would go for lunch, but other than that, I've financed everything. I feel proud of what I've done so far.

I definately love hunting for ponies. Nothings more fun that tracking down whats on my want list. I was able to buy two ponies yesterday at a mall. I also enjoy trading. I think it makes me happy to give some extras to pony people when I trade. I haven't done as much customizing but I do enjoy that too sometimes.

Hmmm....I am a completionist...so for me I adore lining up each set with their little accessories and going "oooh pretty ponies and all the lovely little things"....!! Think Gollum and "my precious"....

No seriously...I just love ponies...so its not the hunt or finding that last little item [although that is amazing!]...its just grooming the ponies, picturing the ponies, enjoying having a pony filled room! Kind of difficult to sum up just one thing...

While I love the high I get when purchasing/winning a coveted pony (I only buy online for the most part because I'm disabled), I have to say the absolute best part of pony collecting for me is reorganizing my pony shelves. I have four shelves of an Ikea billy bookcase set aside for ponies, and I rotate them out from their storage space in a dresser drawer and under-the-bed boxes. Right now I have three shelves of my shy pose ponies out, with another shelf showing off my Twinkle Eyed ponies and several customs. I love looking at them. It makes me feel so happy and peaceful!

My favourite part is when I have bought one online and I am waiting for the package to arrive *O*

I pretty much never go to thrift stores or flee amrkets. Threre aren't many thrift stores around, and they never carry ponies. And I have NO idea how to find flee markets

I think my favorite part is when you walk into somewhere where you're not expecting to find ponies and then you find a REALLY rare pony that you weren't expecting.

For me it's too things
1. Seeing they're little faces when I take them out of the packages they get posted in!
2. Having a display of them, it makes me so happy to see them every morning
