Artsy Art Stations!
« on: March 25, 2012, 12:51:47 PM »
I was noticing, as my passion for pony painting has slowly taken over my room (since I don't have a specific room or even desk that I work on), I realized it's making my boring white wall cinderblock dorm room quite colorful! :P
I don't have a plastic pallet thing for mixing paint or anything, so I just grab pieces of cardboard (I'm sure by the end of the school year, I'll be out of my moving boxes because I'll have painted them all  ). Finally, the cup I use for watering my paintbrushes is gorgeous!
Anyway, what I'm saying is that my art supplies have becomes as colorful and artsy as my customs!

Let me see your chaotic art stations, if you know exactly what I'm saying! lol :P

I use the metal tops off frozen juice concentrate cans as palettes - when they get too dirty, you can just toss them in the recycling. =3  Works great since they're non-absorbant, and have a nice little lip around the edge.

No pics I'm afraid, since they never stick around long!   :satisfied:

I will have to take some pictures sometime, I often use paperplates for painting like you do the cardboard!

Metal tops means that it's easier to clean up. Paint sticks to porous material like cardboard, but would peel off metal :)

I use a game board wrapped in tin foil. Virtually no clean up at all, just fold it up after and put it in the bin, use fresh foil next time:)

:o ... pure genius.
I think I'll have to find some metal to that on then :)
being in a dorm room, I don't have common household items like foil, but i'll definitely keep an eye out ^.^

I use a tin pie pan, then when the paint dries I just scrape it off and use a little water on a paper towel to clean off what is left. Cheap to replace too

I use little scraps of wax paper, and if I want to save a color for an hour, I just fold it over to slow it drying out.

I save the plastic windows from toy packaging (especially MH, since they're big) or if I run out of those, paper plates.

I have a glass/acrylic cutting board that I use.  The rough side's for cutting and then smooth side is for paint.  I just peel off the paint when it dries. or scrub it off.  Pretty easy.

Yup, any  non-absorbant surface will make your paint dry slower, since it's not sucking the water out of the paint from the bottom. :o

If I hadn't cleaned my station last night to prep for Rehairing I would have a great picture to add. I tape a plastic trash bag over the kitchen table where I will be working. I paint on it glue on it cut on it sculpt on it and when it's time for hair for the pony, I remove the taped edges, pile the trash on it, then roll it up and throw it away.

I use old weirdly shaped plastic plates. I don't know what they're made of but when the layer of paint on them becomes too thick, paint will just peel off O.o also, acetone doesn't do any harm to it :)
