I had bid on them, but I was outbid at the last minute. I think the Lemondrop is real and I think that the Cotton Candy's have magenta hair, which is rare. I hope a collector here won them so we can find out for sure!

Oh Bummer JJ, No one has Stepped up to claim them yet, I sure hope we get to see more of them, I agree, the CC's also appeared to be Hair Variants. BTW it's Good to See you Again  , been awhile ;)

DRUM ROLL = thanks to mother's day passing and you all pony peoples patiently waiting = and I cannot find my camera (thank my 4 year old quick hands when I had the card in the computer slot to check = at least can download what I took)

I was the crazy bidder on the italy magenta lot :-) didn't mean to draw out the suspense - but something like this just had to be for an occasion, ya know = and I don't do jewelry, flowers or candy :-) but ponies ?  S-U-R-E

so here's what I can pass along:

from seller emails

first one =
Hi Monica,

I'm sorry I'm answering you so late but I got some troubles concerning my internet connection. First, congratulations for winning the auction, I left the ponies in the Post Office's care a few hours ago:
I hope you'll receive them really soon! About our little friends, I can't tell you a lot about them because I'm not an experienced collector but the story behind their tails (^_^)  tells that they were a present given to me and my sister for a friend of our father who worked in a quite famous toy shop in Milan around early '80. As I said me and my sister, we're not collectors but we heard about the love and interest surrounding the ponies and... well, we decided to make someone very happy! When the box arrives, please let me know if everything's fine and let's exchange feedbacks, OK?

Have a nice day, ciao!

Michele

So I wrote her if she knew anything about the "infamous" magenta haired cotton candy - had she had her hair dyed/so more a played-with pony

here's her second email =

Ciao Monica,

once again, sorry for the late answer but this time it's not internet's fault... I was simply on holiday abroad ^_^ I'm glad to read that ponies safely traveled and are now among many other little friends: it's the perfect way to spend a wonderful Easter, don't you think?

Concerning your request, I honestly don't know but my sister might have an answer or an anecdote to share... I'll let you know as soon as possible, after the great Easter Lunch ^_^

I wish you "Buona Pasqua!" (Happy Easter!) and let's exchange feedback, OK?

Michele

So man, time flies = thanks for long read... so here are pics = first of Magenta CC

apologies for fuzzy images :-/ but I think you can see = her head is just a tad whiter than her body
I find my dang camera I will update with better glamour shots...

Now speaking of "glamour" as in the pony spa treatment - her head was loose... so =

you all be the judge in regards to how her hair got the color she is...  oh = there was pink that rubbed off on towel - can you see?

here's the tail =

and I used suave and some "fancier" conditioner I had leftover from coloring... I tried to flat iron = but alas, her ends were beyond frizz - so maybe a clue?  dunno... anyhow = more pics :)

and I just thought this was a funny shot = anyone else have unusual hair dry methods for a rainy day?

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

so man, is her hair soft now!  but looks cut, and ends are still damaged... ah well = so = you think she's just a hair dye job??

OK :-) more pics = apologies for anyone with slow machines - nonetheless hope ya'll enjoy

now here's miss Magenta on Pink CC

and here she is with her regular pink cousin = these two look like the same mold used/just different hair = dunno if that's a clue

oh heya - not a dumb question at all = yeah, lemon is  legit = her head was loose so popped off, and it's definitely factory weave in there and tail ring is there although rusted so I treated with CLR but didn't replace...
The magenta lemon I think SoSilver has = I think I remember reading he brought to UKponycon or something, so really the main pony I was gambling on was the "white" faded magenta CC...
I'm leaning toward dye job, and hopefully now that I have a regular italy CC with pink hair/albeit cut on the way to US, I'll soon be able to update with more compare shots...

All I know is, for the short time I've been gathering up pony families and pretty-ing them up after traveling here,  I've never had hair color come off during a spa treatment (wash, conditioner, flat iron etc) so when my white towel got pinkish I got suspicious, and given how brittle her hair was, to me = ya know when you color hair it dries out = I suspected the pony hair responded similarily.

So yeah, loving all these crazy italian variants = anybody here an Italy expert?  There were what = 3 factories or more making these?  Seems there are at least 3-4 body molds and all these production variations it's confusing for me to keep track of - not sure if someone here has done a history of and unfortunately, I wasn't really able to get clarified from seller if these were given to her and sister as childhood gifts, or only recently acquired  from that family friend... ah well :-)
So,hopefully when hubby's family visits from Intra this summer, I can maybe piece a bit more since cousins are the "right" age to have been playing with ponies (hence the decendend-from reason I love italian ponies in my herd, ya know = for my kids) and I'll be happy to update here with any info I have

Oh cool, they are gorgeous! Congrats! :cheer:

If that was a dye job though would the hair inside be a less intense colour and would the plug holes not be stained too?

That is what I was thinking to.
