I used to work at a cafe. This question....

Woman: "How many calories is a cup of coffee?"
Me: "Do you put anything in it?"
Woman: "Uh, yeah~ Coffee. (duh) So how many calories?"

Try explaining THAT with a straight face and a Disney world smile....And 9 times out of 10, if I told them "coffee doesn't have any calories" they would then order five pumps of white mocha, cream, whip cream, and caramel drizzle on top...

Yeah, I never got that.

It's a conspiracy! I've debated this with a friend and we came up with...you get taxed a penny when you actually -speak- your thoughts. Therefore, the input is worth 2 cents while thoughts are only 1. (Or maybe inflation. )

Why aren't the number of hotdogs in a package the same as the number of hotdog buns in a package???

A similar question was asked elsewhere and I think the answer was: 10 hot dogs is equal to a pound of meat, which is easier for butchers to handle. Whereas bread buns are just sold in a dozen usually

Some places do sell the same number of hotdogs and buns in a package though now

Much of the English language doesn't make sense that way, such as transporting a box in a car is called a shipment but transporting a box on a ship is called cargo.

Why are cigarettes wrapped in the flimsiest excuse for plastic, but kid's toys are locked into plastic thick enough to hold back an angry lion?

In one of Ellen Degeneres' stand-ups, she talks about how batteries (which are virtually indestructible) are packaged in the military-worthy hardcore plastic, while lightbulbs (oh-so-fragile) are in thin, thin cardboard with two open ends.






Personally, I love crazy warning tags on items, like most christmas lights say "for indoor or outdoor use only"- I want to know where ELSE you could put them. Or washing machines that say "do not wash clothes while still on body" and even have a picture to go with it, like who actually did that?

Well, in some countries, the English language tends to become corrupted due to local perception and laws. For example, here in Malaysia, ham has somewhat became synonymous with sandwich sliced meat due to pork being illegal to eat to the local Muslim population. So you get ridiculous products like "chicken ham" and "turkey ham", even though you can get real ham from special no-muslims section of a supermarket. And yes, burgers with chicken or beef patties are still sometimes called hamburgers even though restaurants serving real hamburgers (i.e pork patty burgers) are rather hard to find in the country.

I too enjoy eating a pigs myself (I'm born Buddhist ). Just thought I should share my observations on why sliced sandwich meat are called "ham" in certain locales.
