Removing white ponies' symbols...
« on: March 03, 2012, 05:16:49 PM »
I've got a baity Sunny Daze I cleaned up, but I can't get her symbol all the way off to customize...

I've tried scrubbing it in detergent, and soaking and scrubbing with 100% acetone nail polish remover, and sanding the body down a bit. I've got all the stains off except for that pesky ring of yellow sun. When I look on the inside of her body, I can faintly see the yellow stain from the inside as well. Did the ink stain all the way through the plastic?

Any ideas? As a last resort, I can try and paint her new symbol to cover up the yellow ring, but I'd rather get it off if I can...

Weird.  I've done several of her and never had a problem like that.  I've been wondering what a baking soda/peroxide toothpaste would do.  That might be worth a try.

Well, a baking soda/vinegar mix didn't work (it fizzed nicely though)... we don't have peroxide in the house, though =/ or I'd try that.

many of the white g3s (sunnydaze, stawberry swirl, etc) have symbols that stain the body pink.
so no matter how much acetone you use or how much you scrub you will still have a pink mark where the symbol was.

Sounds like some of the paint dye/particles have seeped into the plastic - unfortunately in this case all you can do is try to fade it out or cover it up. 8(

sadly I have had this probelm, it is more common with fakies though...
I can never get it all the way off if it goes all the way though the plastic..
I would paint over it with white paint if I was you

yup, the plastic is stained.
you might get it out with sunfading, but most people just paint over it.

Is this a case where Goo Off would work? I'm still pretty new to using it, but what I have seen of it is amazing...

Goo gone works well for anything sticky, but in my experience it doesn't take off ink/stains.

I've had this problem with almost EVERY Sunny Daze I've ever customized. Frustrating!! I've always just painted over it.

But I'm going to try cream bleach next time... bwa ha ha ...

Goo Off and Goo Gone are actually different. I accidentally used Goo Gone thinking it was Goo Off once and agree it didn't do much.

Oh? Never heard of Goo Off, thought it was a mistype, my mistake. X3  Perhaps we don't have that product up here, or I've just never seen it. Does it work well?

I've had this happen with paint I've put on a white custom...more than once.  Often with yellow and light green paint.  I'll not like how something looks, so I'll take it off with acetone, and more than once I've stained the pony...and this has happened when the paint is only on there for a short time.  It seems like white ponies just stain easier. :/

It works really well to remove cutie marks and stuff. Though it's kinda scary and requires gloves and really good ventilation. I always use it outside.
