Why is Rapunzel so much rarer than all the other MO ponies?

@Taffeta, do you think Sugarcake is rarer than Gametime?  I figured they would be equal I thought they were sold as a pair 

El Greco started manufacturing lines that they no longer held a license for in the mid/late 80s. They still had moulds and licensing designs just no legal rights to do so. In 1989 one of their main factories burned down and supposedly took any evidence which would have proven what they were doing. In 1990 Hasbro ended up buying El Greco out.

Where was Rapunzel advertised?  I assume in with other ponies being sold, but does anyone know which sets of ponies had that brochure?

Im going to see if i still have it but about 15 years ago i emailed Hasbro to ask where i could find a Mimic pony as id seen it on the video ( i was very naive back in my pre teen days ) and they actually sent me a reply to say she was no longer in production and had been recalled from most stores due to people not liking her colours as much as the ponies in the same set. Not sure if this is why she is harder to find compared to speedy etc. Could be due to the fact that *gulp* many were destroyed!

She was advertised in "A Day at the Beach" pamphlet with Mommy and Baby Pony, the Pearlized babies, Baby Sugarcake and Gametime, and Scoops and the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe. 

I believe it was actually the last mail order offer (1990) unless Goldilocks came later.

Ponyland Press.   The brochures are in chronological order.

I know for sure it came with the Baby Rainbow ponies.  It might have come with every pony from that year (Year 9, 1990 - 1991).
