Ah, I didn't think to try baby wipes. Thanks for the tip, hopefully it'll at least fade the ink somewhat.

Pony Corral / Tips on cleaning colouring changing G3?
« on: October 15, 2012, 10:05:48 AM »
My Grandmother recently bought a secondhand colour changing Star Catcher styling G3, much to my joy. She's overall in pretty great condition except for a pen mark on her display side cheek. I'm wondering if anyone might be at all familiar with the dos and don'ts of cleaning colour changing ponies to prevent any damage being done to them. I've cleaned and restored plenty of ponies, but I've never faced one with this feature before.
Would anyone happen to know if magic erasers would be too rough on this type of plastic? Would I be best just sticking to a mild soap, even if I can't remove the ink on her face? She has a few other thin, brown lines too, one on the underside of her hoof and one on the top surface of each wing. I'm willing to try things out on the underside of the hoof if anyone has any ideas they think may work. For science!  :nerdy:

I managed to get one of the G1 books in a secondhand shop for 50 cent today! It's "The Stolen Shadow" and it's still in great condition for something I found under a fallen pile of dusty old children's books in a run-down charity shop.
G1 merch is pretty difficult to find here. So far I only own three G1-related things. Only one of them is a pony. Bunny Hop. And the other thing is a T-shirt with Firefly.

I'll probably wait for the price to drop a bit, but I'll definitely be buying one. I love collecting Furbys.

This is bloody amazing!!!!!!  I might dash down there now.....  I got a blue one when I was on holiday in Dublin a few weeks ago, I forgot to post here about it! xx
Really? As it happens I live in Dublin and just bought a blue Firefly shirt in our version of Primark called Penneys (it's run by Primark).  It says "Daddy I want a pony".

Pony Corral / Re: TLC attempting to prey on Pony Community

I believe Equestria Daily posted about this a few weeks ago. At first they thought it would be a nice idea for the community, but when they were informed by other MLP fans that the shows they make are always trying to shame people or make a mockery of someone they realised that it really is a bad idea. They attempted to warn their fans against signing up for the show.
 :(
I'm really quite appalled by shows like these. They're really in bad taste (and an awful lot of the time you can tell that the people they are making fun of have extreme mental disorders, and that's just not fair).

Her eyes are beautiful!  ^.^ I hope they are the translucent pony style eyes. They'd be so very, very pretty.
METALLIC TINSEL! Yessss. So much better looking than that translucent stuff! :D
THIS!
The translucent tinsel is like they have shiny dental floss in their hair.  :|

Oh, her eyes look better focused that a certain Luna doll I've seen going around.  She looks lovely! I wish we had the Celestia and Luna fashion styles here. D:

Pony Corral / Re: What is wrong with my Twinkler?
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:27:06 AM »
I have a G3 Meadowbrook that looks to have the same problem. She was secondhand from a friend of mine who had been storing her in a very damp shed, apparently, so my guess is it could perhaps be mould?  That's my guess by the conditions she was exposed to, anyway, and your poor Twinkler's condition just seems so similar from the photos...

Also, Rarity gets dirty amazingly easily. I washed her with soap and water, yet the marks still won't come off.   I'm not even sure how they got there. At first I thought my hands were dirty, but I'm a bit of an obsessive hand washer, so how could that be? The other white ponies aren't as bad, probably because Rarity was my first pony toy.
Well, white ponies from every generation tend to look dirtier in my semi-well-versed-in-different gens experience, sadly. I have five G4 Raritys and they tend to look dirtier quicker than the rest. If the stains are bad enough you may want to try a little acetone or magic eraser being very, very careful of eyes and symbols. The playful pony G4's are so frightfully small that's it's hard to avoid them, however. >.> When in doubt, I leave stains and just try and style the hair as best I can to hide them. Curls and legs wraps work a treat at disguising flaws.  Especially on G4's with their tiny bodies.

My latest Rarity is the lifted front leg one that comes with the carousel boutique and she has a sliver of the pink plastic used in her saddle stuck under the glue of her glitter symbol.  :( Some of the glitter also seems to have snuck into her eye paint, but that's not too bad and makes her have a nice twinkle in her eyes.  She also has a lot of dents in her lifted leg. Has anyone experienced such dents in their ponies with lifted legs like Sweetie Swirl and Cheerilee? I believe it's a flaw with the mold as the Sweetie Swirl that also came with the set has similar dents.

Not necessarily the best, but my personal fave:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Ignore Tic, I don't have a photo of her without XD
I do love me some articulated fakies. And orange haired ponies in general.  ^.^

Pony Corral / Re: What makes your collection unique?
« on: June 15, 2012, 11:25:33 AM »
My collection isn't all that unique, though I do have a Bunny Hop/ Hopping Pocket who still has her basket, bunny and pink hair!  She's the only G1 I happen to have now too, so she's special to me.
The rest of my collection is over-run with fakies and G4 Raritys.  I never intended to wind up with so many Raritys.

I bought Twilight Sparkle's Twinkling Balloon and Rarity's Carousel Boutique just yesterday. I snatched up the balloon because Twilight had bangs and I love collecting different variations. I bought the boutique mainly because you can't get Sweetie Swirl by herself and I REALLY LIKE HER MANE!
I would have gotten a different one that they had on the shelf though, had I gotten to see under Rarity's saddle. It looks like there's a sliver of the pink plastic of the saddle stuck under the glitter.   And the tail plug on Sweetie Swirl was in a right mess. AND the raised legs of both ponies have large dents in them, but I suppose that must just be the molds.  >_<
The Twilight with the bangs has a plug of really short hairs like they got sliced by the factory machinery. I'm hoping I can style it well enough to cover it, though. And I managed to grind away the worst of the warping at Sweetie Swirl's tail plug, thankfully.
Still not sure what to do with the pink plastic stuck under Rarity's glitter, though. And what looks like glue spilled on Sweetie Swirl's NDS eye.
