Pony Corral / Re: Who are the hard to find G4 brushables?

I'd be interested if anyone finds a Lily Blossom.  Thank you to anyone who checks. :)

There are a few Family Dollar stores around here that I will have to check out also.  Thanks for the tip to check there as well!

Lily Blossom definitely.  She's the only G4 brushable I'm missing.  I still kick myself for passing on her when I saw her at K-Mart...

Which ones turned up and what store is it?

I had the same experience last week with Sunny Rays.  I figured she would be my third favorite from this latest wave (ahead of Cherry Berry who I'm not fond of- there have been too many cherry-themed ponies lately) but since yellow isn't a favorite color of mine I wasn't expecting to be enthralled with her.  And then I saw her on the shelf with the rest of her wave and I thought to myself 'she's a lot prettier than I expected.'

When I opened her up I really got to see how pretty she is.  She's now near the top of my favorites list.

I picked up the Fan Favorites set on Saturday and haven't opened it yet.  So at the moment I can't comment on Flower Wishes, but she isn't moving me much from inside her box.  We'll see if I change my mind once she's been liberated.  Viva the PLM (Pony Liberation Movement)!

I don't know if there's a specific term that those who open their ponies use versus those who keep them in the packaging.  If there is, I've missed it.  If not, I'll submit PLM for the group's approval.

I've sold some before, but now I'm giving them to my mum. :)

Good to know I'm not the only person doing that! :)  Mom's up to four ponies, and she's about to get a Pinkie Pie when I see her next.

Rainbow Dash: "Tacky? TACKY?? Who in the hoof do you think you're calling tacky, pal!"

Nice cars. Also, which blue horse did you mean - Dashie, or the Mustang?

That depends.  If we're talking G3 Dash, she has excellent taste and always dresses in style.  But since this is a G4 Dash... I'm going to stand by my earlier assessment- she has no taste unless Rarity picks it out for her.  In this case, Rarity pleaded with her to get a BMW sedan instead of the classic muscle car.  Bare in mind I love the car in question and I'm calling that tacky also (I love the looks of it but it was not considered a good-looking car in its day by the general public).  And while RD is my favorite pony, I still like to poke fun of her nonetheless.  I have a self-deprecating sense of humor.  I make fun of myself a lot too.

And as for training, I definitely meant Dash. ;)  G4 Dash (since that's the one pictured) is a free spirit and doesn't play by anyone's rules other than her own.  On the other hand, Mustangs are easy to train.  Park!  Rust!  No no no, I didn't say leak fluids all over my driveway!

Applejack really wanted a pickup, but she'll make this pony work hard.  She has to have to have something fast enough to outrun Equestria's finest when hauling bootleg cider after all...

Good luck training that blue horse...

This one is right up Rainbow Dash's alley: loud, fast, and tacky. ;)

Oh man, I love Cherry Spices! There are so few brown ponies in the toyline, making her unique, and she pulls it off so well! You go girl! And I swear I'm not just saying that because she reminds me of chocolate! :P

I see what you mean, though, the scheme is so different from the pastel ponies we've grown up loving. I'm kind of impressed Hasbro took that risk, actually, especially since she isn't a character in the show.
First off, sorry for picking on one of your favorites.  I guess you can't have a thread like this without ending up with a few disagreements.  I actually don't mind the fact that she's brown...it's the combination of brown with pink.  I keep telling myself she's supposed to be chocolate-covered cherries or something like that and my brain keeps firing back that people eat chocolate covered cherries for their taste, not their aesthetic appeal.  I haven't tried eating my Cherry Spices but I have a sinking suspicion she probably doesn't taste like chocolate.  Or cherries for that matter. ;)  But if Hasbro ever hooks up with Hershey or M&M Mars to do MLP chocolates she should definitely be among the ponies in the lineup.

I'm not really sure what colors would go with brown that would work better.  Definitely not red, pink, blue, or purple.  White or tan would work but that would make for a very plain pony that probably wouldn't sell well.  Definitely a much more realistic pony to the real world though.

Yes, definitely my least favorite blind bag, and it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of the rarity mold. And guess how many I have? 3.  >_< I misread the codes a few times.
It's like an insult to Rarity on this one!  A crime against fashion her mold!  Than again her mold is already a crime against her mold... ;)  Thankfully I only have one Cherry Spices.

I do not like any ponies that 'do' things. No BBE, no silly twirly tails, no knobs, no attachments, no lights, no movement! A pony should just be a pony.
Same here!  I call them "gimmick ponies" and I have two of them so far.  Both of which came bundled with ponies I did want.

And I'll go a step further and say that with the exception of blind bags, I won't pick up a pony with molded hair.  I just feel that My Little Ponies should have brushable manes and tails.  It's what makes them MLP to me.  I give the bling bags a free pass though because of their size and pricepoint.

I use the codes (I passed on the third release the first time I saw them because I didn't have a list on me- big mistake, I've only come across them once since and have only added two to my collection as a result).

I keep the cards so I can display the pony in front of the card.

I think she would have been better as a Pinkie Pie repaint instead of an Applejack.

I just voted for Minty and was shocked to discover I broke a 110-110 tie.  You couldn't ask for a tighter race!

Go Minty!

Rainbow Dash, darlings!  Did you even have to ask?

I was going to use "AlwaysDressesInStyle" as my user name until I checked to see if Rainbow Dash was available (side note, the 'check to see if this username is available' option is an extremely useful feature to have!).  Considering she was Core 7 and now Mane 6... I still can't believe this screen name was actually available.

Side note- has anyone asked about Toola Roola and Star Song appearing in the G4 toy line?  I know a lot of folks asked Hasbro about Minty but I didn't see any mention of the remaining two Core 7s.  I'd buy 'em both.

Blah. I wonder how much I've spent in gas checking everyday...

I decided to do a loop on Saturday of all the major towns near me.  170 miles, four Toys R Us', three Targets, three Walmarts, and two K-Marts.  I filled the tank right at the start ($52.00....ouch, gas is back on the rise).

My only purchase: the Shining Armor/Princess Cadence Wedding Castle set.  Nothing else new to be seen anywhere.

All that driving cost me half a tank's worth of gas (almost exactly- it was just under halfway when I got home).  So a $35 playset cost me $26 in gas.  I'm starting to think purchasing online and paying shipping may be a more cost-effective solution.  And that's not even factoring the time spent into the equation.  Of course the downside to that is the thrill of the hunt is part of the fun of collecting, and if you buy online it's harder to inspect things before purchasing.

Oh well, I have to drive out of state this weekend so maybe a change of hunting grounds is what the doctor ordered?  Or much more likely, that's when they will all hit my stores. ;)

You seem like a very friendly group and I'm happy to be here. :)  I'm pretty shy so expect me to be more of a lurker until I get to know you all better.

I'm a relatively new collector.  So far I'm focused exclusively on G4 but I plan on expanding into G3 in the near future.  My collection is currently comprised of brushables and blind bags.  I have some specific collecting parameters:

G4 brushables (non-gimmick- so none that light up, raised symbols, Glimmer Wings, etc. just the basic brushables).  So far I think I have every one except Lily Blossom (kicking myself for passing on her when I saw her at K-Mart last year) and Daisy Dreams.  At the time I was only picking up certain ponies... but then I found myself filling in the gaps in my herd one at a time (nothing new was coming out, I was getting frustrated not finding Diamond Rose... and somehow other ponies kept going home with me one at a time) and suddenly I realized the only ones missing from my collection were Lily Blossom and the non-USA releases.  That's when I decided to just become a G4 brushable completist since I was pretty much already there anywhere. ;)  I still haven't found any of the latest releases that are just hitting but I'm keeping my eyes peeled.  It would help tremendously if I had a Target or a Toys R Us locally.  The nearest ones are all 45 minutes away so I don't get out to any of them as frequently as I'd like to.

Blind bags- I really wasn't going to get these (to me it really isn't a MLP unless it has brushable hair) but I like the fact that there's a larger selection of characters available than there are in the brushables.  Plus they had Minty and the brushables don't and I admit, I really like Minty (keeping my fingers crossed they do eventually release her as a brushable).  So far I only have wave 1 and the first Toys R Us exclusive set.
