Wanted! / Buying G1 Ponies :)
« on: July 28, 2014, 01:47:51 AM »
Hi there Everypony :)

I've been collecting G1 Ponies for quite a while and now I am trying to organize them a bit and get some sets complete. I'll sort them by sets, not alphabetically. I live in Germany and so it would be great if someone could offer me more than one or two ponies because shipping just one mostly exceeds the price of the pony.
Please note – I can live without accessories and some playwear, but what I don't want are haircuts, chew marks, discolorations, regrind, dark spots (pony 'cancer') – so some TLC is fine, but I am not looking for baits.

Since I am really busy at the moment it might take me a while to reply but I read all my messages.

First: I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR
Perfume Puff Ponies
So Soft Ponies
Mail Order Ponies
Adult Sea Ponies
Non European Ponies
(not necessarily Nirvanas, but those not released here in Europe like SHS, 10th anniversary, Flutter Ponies etc.)
My Pretty Pony Peachy

So here is my very shortened list, of course I miss a lot more but I have to get it somehow organized and downgrade my wishlist...

I'm so happy, got pony mail today!
Awesome chief with hat, slugger no hat but still pretty and a princess - the lashes are so weird, I don't know if I'll ever love her but I had to have her :))

Look at my pretty boys, had really given up on chief with hat already and know he's here to join his fellows! Love him sooo much...

I love the idea, got some homemade ones for my baby boys too, since I don't want to pay so much for the original bandana ::)

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: MyHermes parcel tracking
« on: May 16, 2014, 01:45:58 AM »
I've been sending but more receiving with Hermes a lot here, although I'm in Germany I would pretty much guess they work the same way in other countries too.
On my behalf - they are very slow when it comes to updating the process same as the delivery. Delivery within a week, two days would be a great surprise to me. Since you've got a tracking number I'd give them a call and ask about it to calm your mind. I wouldn't think it's lost but I've got my reasons why I try to avoid this company by now.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Ebay´s import charges
« on: May 16, 2014, 01:34:59 AM »
As I've experienced it Ebay offers a global shipping program. When I buy ponies from the US and the seller uses this method I pay shipping plus tax (two prices shown in the auction which will of course add up) and the company in between (Pitney Bowers I think it was) takes care of all the custom stuff and you get your package right away without having to pick it up at customs and paying there. I just have to guess here but I think that is what you mean.
For Germany for example there is an import fee of 19% on every article worth more than 22€ including shipping, above 150€ you have to pay an extra charge, don't know what it is called exactly in English.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: filing a claim vs the post office?
« on: May 15, 2014, 02:55:21 PM »
I live in Germany but I had a problem with UPS too. I bought Sprinkles plus the Rub a dub tub and the UPS guy just left it on the doorsteps and it was stolen!
In this case the seller had to file the complaint because I simply had nothing in hand. She gave them my number, I explained to them what happened and got a full refund from the seller and she got her money back from UPS. I talked to the guy in person later and he was really sorry but his thoughtlessness was just beyond limits. He said he'd have to pay for this mess himself - he'll never ever leave a package on a doorstep again, that's for sure.
Although I got my money back I'm still very sad that someone who must have been from the neighbourhood (since we live on a very busy main road and nobody stops except those who live here, nobody walks just by and that is the only possibility someone could have seen it) stole my poor Sprinkles.

Good luck with your complaint, I hope you get at least some money back!

Definitely Baby Honeycomb and BB Salty, Rock and of course Posey, those four are my all time favourites from my childhood.

I read this topic yesterday and thought about it instead of answering right away.
There are only very few flea markets here, no garage sales, it's not common here. I went to flea markets, not a single pony to find there, but I've been there as a seller and let me tell you how people really started to piss me of there. I put prices very low, leaving just a little space for dealing so the buyers feel like they made a real bargain but it was not fun selling. I had for example a complete set of porcelain with dishes, cups, etc. over a hundred pieces in total, everything as new, no chips, cracks, prefect painting. The buying price was a couple of hundreds, I asked fifty for the set and then they sneak around you for an hour trying to get it for just 10! Took me a lot to swallow my anger and not just yell at them to go away. That's just one example, I could come up with a lot more. I finally put it on Ebay and got even way more than I hoped for plus a nice, grateful and very happy buyer.

The thing is - everybody can ask whatever they want for their stuff. If someone is willing to pay an overrated priced, probably because he or she just doesn't know better, it's fine for the seller. To me collectibles are worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. If the price is unrealistic I just back off. Same with nasty sellers as I've also read through some of the posts. Had my experiences through twelve years of selling and buying.

I've also seen it, probably more, the other way round - like people picking up Nightlight at a garage sale for 5 bucks and being happy about it. None would imagine to tell the seller that she is worth more than ten times as much at the moment. So be happy about the good deals and stay away from sellers who just don't know better or try to rip you off. They'll learn eventually that bait ponies are hard to sell for a fortune.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone ever had sellers remorse?
« on: May 14, 2014, 01:25:16 AM »
I had a couple of these moments and I still catch myself when I sell toys, sometimes other stuff too, while I pack them for shipping.
I really miss some of my old plushies like the Rainbow Brite Horse and some ponies that I gave away years ago. It's attached memories must of the time that make me keep sth that I really don't need and what makes me regret giving sth away.

Pony Corral / Re: What flaw gets to you more?
« on: May 13, 2014, 03:46:42 PM »
I personally can live with little flaws like little scratches to eyes or symbols or minor age marks but I hate major hair cuts (probably because I'm not patient enough to fix them) and pony cancer just as much as discolourations that are unfixable - like the Party Time Pony I got lately that should be orange and is completely covered with pink spots due to the working of the plastic over the years. I know that happens with a lot of ponies where different colours of plastic have been molded together. Didn't look so bad at first but the longer I look at her the more it bothers me. And chew marks or missing parts - unacceptable to me. Apart from that I consider myself quite easy to please but I must admit - the longer I collect the pickier I get. Seems like a slowly growing process I can't escape.

She was the first mlp I ever got back in the 80s - still have her and love her and although she is in a very played with condition it would brake my heart to give her away.
