Off Topic / Re: What are you going to be for Halloween?
« on: October 20, 2014, 06:14:31 PM »
A few people were trying to convince me to be Elsa, but if I'm gonna do her dress, I'm waiting until I can do it right. Plus I found out about a party kinda late, so instead I'm just going with stuff I already have. Which amounts to a not awful Winter Soldier costume. I've been painting a hoodie for a while and I finally got it finished, bought combat boots and black jeans, and some dark eye makeup  :P My hair is totally the wrong color, but I'm so proud of the stupid sweatshirt I could care less.

I had to go with Mimic today. Honestly, if she was the most common pony on Earth, I'd still love her. Her symbol and color combination (and she's a TE! My favorites!) are just so pretty and unique!

I forget what the make of my camera is, but I picked it up at a garage sale for $5. Ended up having to get the aperture repaired, but it was still a good deal. The camera is... decent. Haven't had the chance to use it in a while, but I did take a film photography class last year. It was a lot of fun!

I was never that into Peter Pan, but I liked the Fairies movies well enough. Still haven't watched The Pirate Fairy, but I'll get around to it.

Honestly, though, my sister and I have just been waiting for the tragic backstory moment to explain Tinker Bell's drastic personality difference  :P She went from a nice, friendly fairy, to someone who kinda encouraged murder. And I know Disney wanted a more appealing character for the spin-off, but they were using her as a pretty prominent character before the franchise. But I think her personality was the main thing that kept me from really liking the movies.

Ariel and the Mansion are mostly the same, but I think the WDW versions have an extra scene or two compared to Disneyland. I know for sure that the Disneyland Haunted Mansion is a slightly shorter ride (and the outer theme is completely different), but I'm not entirely sure about Ariel.

Maelstrom closed like a week or two ago, too. :(

Check out the new Little Mermaid ride in Fantasyland, and the Mine Train ride! Actually, all of New Fantasyland was a ton of fun, and I'm a bit disappointed we didn't try Be Our Guest. Try to time it so you're riding Splash Mountain while the fireworks are going on (Big Thunder works, too), because it's one of the best things to do, in my experience. And the Festival of Fantasy daytime parade is cute if you can see it, but the nighttime Halloween parade is awesome! The Haunted Mansion is always a must, and I think the Frozen Sing-Along will still be playing in Hollywood Studios. Try to find your favorite character for a meet and greet, if you can. And try to book fastpasses in advance!

But a quick note, since some people have mentioned pin trading- cheap lots on eBay are usually fake pins, so please try not to trade those! I've gotten "scrappers," as pin fakies are called, numerous times, and it's a big problem in the pin trading community. Some of them are pricey, and I can understand just wanting cheap ones to trade. But it's never fun trading with a Cast Member only to realize the pin you got was a knock off.

After numerous lost auction, a win gone wrong, and a win almost gone wrong, she's finally here! This is the most I've spent on any one item, and certainly more than I've ever intended to spend on a doll. But she was worth every penny!!

Belle made mention that the house didn't seem to be claimed yet but my thought on the house that Belle and Mr. Gold now live in was maybe it was the Mad Hatter's house? I seem to remember him having a pretty huge house and we haven't seen it since the first season (or was it the second). I loved Sebastian Shaw as the Mad Hatter unfortunately he may not be coming back to the series as he is now playing a fairly significant character in the Captain America movies and who knows what else in Marvel phase 2.
My sister was speculating it was Jefferson's house, actually. It was a bit away from the rest of the town, and it would make sense if that's whose house it was. I really do hope Sebastian Stan comes back, even for a brief cameo! I feel like there's a lot to his story that they could still work with.

My sister started watching the show in the spring (and I ended up kinda watching along), and I was 50/50 until I heard about Frozen. So far, I like what they've done with the characters. I think it makes sense that Elsa doesn't have complete control, especially considering the situation she's in. I didn't think she necessarily meant that Anna has to be by her side all of the time, but there's a big difference between "I'll see her in a little while" and "I'm in a strange place and my sister is gone and possibly in danger." Anyone would be freaked out if they showed up in a random town, only to find out that someone they're very close to is in trouble.

Apparently people are starting to find the skating two pack! I've seen a few people on tumblr from the UK posting about them, so I hope they make it over here soon! The Anna is cute (and I don't have a doll of her yet), but the Elsa is exactly the same as the classic doll. The only difference is that she has skates that look more like her movie shoes than the blue flats.

And I'm not sure if anyone's heard of the Itty Bitties by Hallmark, but Elsa and Anna are coming soon, I've heard. So are the ornaments!

Sent my predictions in. This one was tricky to predict! I wasn't sure if the more unique ponies or the more "classic" ones would do better. I'm interested to see the results!

The Disney Store near my school restocked, and I finally got the Elsa plush and mug! It was like walking into a dream lol. The only thing I'm still tempted to look for is the singing ornament, but we'll see.

And I got texts from my sister that another Frozen something is waiting for me at home...  :frolic:

A lot of the Designer dolls take a while to sell out. IIRC, some of the Designer Villains were on the website for quite a while, and the earlier Fairytale Couples from the first set were there for a week+. I don't think the Designer collections are as popular, for whatever reason, plus each doll has a pretty big edition size. And I think a lot of people are waiting for the 17 inch dolls, too.
