Pony Corral / G1 accessory identification resource query...
« on: February 23, 2013, 10:56:48 AM »
Hi guys, I've been out of the loop with MLP collecting since the middle of 2010, so please excuse if this is a bit of a newb question, or if it has been asked a lot before.

When I was actively collecting I used a site called mylittleponycollectors, which was full of mip images of G1's, so that I could identify everyone's accessories. One of the reasons I dropped out of mlp collecting (other than my discovery of Pullips), was that I could no longer identify where my miriads of accessories were meant to go :p (I was an accessory hoarder). & every time I moved, I would get the brushes/combs mixed up, & just forget what went with who! But I really want to get myself organised, & re aquaint my ponies with their accessories. So, my question: what resources are there for G1 collectors now? Especially in relation to accessories?

I'll be very greatful for any help/suggestions :)

Pony Corral / Re: I'm curious about Arena members. :)

I joined several years ago when I was actively collecting vintage MLP, I then spotted the dollhouse forum & decided to have a mooch, found Pullips, & my pony collection stopped the day my first Pullip arrived. I still have all my mlp's, & still visit the arena from time to time. I've popped on today because I've started to think I might like to get back into my ponies :) so I'm putting my toes in the water. I do miss the arena, & the people that I used to see on here, but Pullips are so expensive, that I haven't really been able to keep up with my mlp collection.

That would bug the hell out of me too, luckily I haven't tried changing the styles of any of my girls! So I haven't come across this issue, but really, little kids re-style their dollies hair, so it's a tad crappy of them to leave entire patches. They charge enough for the MH dolls to add the required plugs if you ask me.

Tuney, if I re-dressed & re-styled my dolls it would bother me too, go for it with the adding plugs if it means you can get their hair looking ace :)

Guys, I super want the skeleton CAM but know I woud have invest in a torso and limbs. Should I just wait for Skelita before plunking all this money down?
That's my plan. By the time I found the other parts, she'd cost as much as Skellita probably will, if not more.

I just bought the werewolf/dragon starter set & used the werewolf parts for my CAM skeleton :) They're a good colour match, the werewolf parts are a greyer colour, but I feel it fits well as it looks like dead skin kind of. It's saved me the money of having to buy seperate parts, & I sold the rest of the werewolf parts on Ebay as I didn't want them.

There's loads of black & white Skull Shores Frankie's in my local Tesco, so PM me if you're stuck & I can grab her for you.

Issue 3 weighs 100g without the notebook, which is coming up at £3.86 on the shipping calculator.

hold on.....

The magazines only weigh about 100g each (ish) - really quite lightweight. Issue 3 weighs 200g due to the free notebook that comes with it. For just issue 3 you're looking at £4-5 shipping UK to Canada. I weighed all 3 of my issues (1-3) and it came out at 400g. you're looking at £6-7 for a 400g packet. So it's only a couple of pounds more for another 2 magazines. In which case it would be more cost effective to have several shipped to you at once, if you wanted to collect all of them. The magazines are £2.99 each. For a 700g packet UK to Canada it's £10-11, it all depends on the weight of the free gift as to how many you'd get into a 700g packet though! As a hefty gift like a notebook really tips the scales. Issue 4 is out this month & has a skullette make-up case as the free gift.

- Hope this helps :)

Thay have the Skeleton CAM sets in my local Tesco for £9.97 if you'd like me to pick you one up. I don't know how much shipping to you would be, but I could de-box the set to make it cheaper for you if you'd prefer? Let me know if you're interested, I have Paypal also, & would appreeciate the payment as a gift & in £ sterling.

I can't imagine they'd cost that much do post as they're very lightweight. They're on issue 3 in my local Tesco if you would like me to grab one for you.
