Putting this in off-topic because my question doesn't really relate to ponies. I'm really kind of an eBay loser and don't know many tactics to win auctions. Recently, I was looking at some original artwork on eBay and there were two lovely pieces I wanted to get. Normally I don't bid until the end, but I decided to place a starting bid because, well, in my case anyway, I am often deterred from bidding on auctions that already have bidders. I figured if anybody else out there was like me, maybe they wouldn't place any bids if they saw that someone had done so already.

Okay, so then I was in the seller's store and checking out their other artworks. I saw that there was a serious bid fest going on with some other artworks of the seller's, and they were similar to the two that I had my eye on. I got a little bit nervous at that, because I thought those bidders might look at the other cheaper auctions if they can't get those ones.

Then I realized I don't know crap about bidding really, I mean, I have sniped auctions before, but I was probably just lucky. Also I'm an extremely nervous, socially anxious, shy person and it's actually a hassle to worry about something I've bid on like 24/7 until it ends.

Sooo I was wondering, can anybody give me some tips? My g/f, who is an expert eBayer, got me my last items because she's so darn clever at it. I actually forget what she said now, but she was able to manually win me some ponies, and I think she told me that she puts in a bid as close as possible, but with something like "$10.01" so it isn't a round number, etc.

But I sorta forget, and I would like to get these items for as cheap as possible...I think I could still do it up to 15$ per item, but after that I might be out...depends on my next paycheck... And the other auctions jumped from 8$ to 20$ in just one bid.

It does kinda confuse me, because when I put in a bid it stays at 8$, yet some bloke pushed in a 20$ bid straight up on the other items. I mean, I want to pay as little as possible, but I also don't understand how he did that?

I have also seen bid histories on some big ticket items, like MLP handmade plush (they go over 500$!) and some people bid, literally, not even kidding, like one second before the close, and I have no idea how their computer even went that fast.

Can any clever eBayers give me tips on how to win?

I grew up with Disney, watching the old Mickey/friends shorts, and of course the classics. I saw Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and the Lion King all in theatres when they first came out (those are the ones I remember best)! I think my first Disney film was Snow White, but I remember Cinderella the most vividly. My favourite Disney film is probably The Lion King but I love so many of them, and of course the Pixar films (Toy Story!)

Right now I'm into Brave and I just got myself a lot of Brave stuff during the Disney Store's Black Friday sales event! I got Classic Merida, the Elinor doll, giant stuffed bear Elinor, and a stuffed Angus. I also got the DVD/Blu-ray combo on sale for like 8$USD at Amazon. I was like SCREAM! I wish I could buy the LE (Limited Edition) Merida/Elinor set like burning  but I only work part-time (go to college at the same time) and I just bought family/fiancee presents, so I am dirt poor. BUT AH GODS I WANT IT.  I love Merida and Elinor!!

The last Disney movie I saw was Wreck-it Ralph and eee I loved it!! Vanellope was AMAZING! I highly recommend this movie for strong and butt-kicking female characters! Sometimes Disney is bad in that area so I was like YES Disney you are doing it RIGHT!


Does anyone here have a D23 membership?  I don't live near the parks so I've been wondering if it's worth it if you don't live near theme, since a lot of the discounts/perks focus on the parks.

Some of my best Disney memories [being that it's the season!] are of Mickey's Christmas Carol which I watch every holiday season  I just love it so much, and of course the book, by Charles Dickens is also one of my favourites now that I'm ~grown-up~ (what's that mean).

Anyone else dying to go to New Fantasyland (new Disney park expansion)? 

I'm still playing Epic Mickey 1 (haven't finished yet because my sister owns the Wii  ) I think it has horrible gameplay but I play it for kicks!

Did you guys hear that Disney bought Star Wars? OMGS! I am a friggin huge Star Wars fan...I love Disney but uhh...NOT sure how to feel here. Although I don't like Lucas either. I'm just sort of waiting to see what happens!

And of course, Disney definitely has it's drawbacks without it markets kids/specific genders which I think is SO annoying and really in some ways damaging.  But, I think many of the Disney movies can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone

Didn't see a thread on this earlier, thought I'd mention it... Stopped by TRU today to look for Zecora. My TRU is really utter crap when it comes to ponies. The only new-ish thing I'd heard about that was there was the white Celestia. But I did find this:

It looks like a plushie Pinkie Pie, but one that tells you stories (plush has several books with it that looked based on different episodes). Made me think of the Big Bird I had as a kid with the cassette tape deck in the back, and the mouth moved as he "said" the words and stuff. (I admit to having loved that thing to death.)

I didn't have time to try her out because the store was closing. Thoughts?

I just got my first two MH dolls, Meowlody and Purrsephone. I looove them! Unfortunately, they don't come with stands.  I know that I can order stands from Mattel, but the total was about 12$ and I felt like it was kind of expensive for two plastic stands. I was wondering if anyone in the community had some extra ones that they wouldn't mind selling to me for less. I would really appreciate it because I cannot display them right now except by sticking them back in their really big box! Soon I will have cases for them, but they need stands to go in the cases. I would be really thankful if someone can help me.

My next want is my grail, Toralei. (Yes the werecats are best.) I don't want to pay the scalpers on eBay for her if I can help it...her minimum is 50$ on eBay. Someone online told me that Toralei can still sometimes be found in stores. I know it's a long shot, but I decided to ask here anyway... Maybe somebody has seen her. I know I'll probably save up and get her off eBay eventually if I have to, but 50$ is so much, especially with just one doll in the package.  Not sure if anyone can help, but it was recommended that I ask around the MH community before I throw myself into the eBay void.

Just to let everyone know [I will delete this line after I return] I will be going away on holiday from July 28 - Aug 4. I'm not sure yet if I will have a computer, but my g/f will be able to check this thread for me anyhow!

Sometimes you just have to wonder this stuff...  Who is the rarest G1, G2, G3 pony? Who is the most expensive G1? (& the others gens too).

Majesty and Celestia may be ponies-in-charge, but I think some must be richer than they are!  Or even more one-of-a-kind!

Which ponies as far as you know are the most HTF/expensive? (I'd assume the two go hand-in-hand, but maybe not!)

  Rare ponies have a serious attraction for me. I always like thinking how rare that pony is and how lucky you'd have to be to get it! What do you all think? Do you mostly just ignore a pony's fame? Or do you like trying to get that super HTF pony because of how rare they are?

Hi everyone,

Recently (as in at the end of May) I purchased two blind bag ponies (from two different sellers) both in Germany. The first pony, Royal Riff, was supposed to be in on or before 6/12. It's now 6/19 and I PM'd the seller on eBay explaining that I had not yet left feedback because the item wasn't in yet. I asked when the seller had sent out the package and s/he said that the package had been posted on June 1. They asked if possibly the package was held up in customs. The main issue is that due to finances I paid the lowest shipping rate which did not come with a tracking number. (This holds for both items.) The thing is, I have no idea what to do now. I'm not sure how to find out where this package is because it has no number. I don't blame the seller but I have never lost a package from abroad before. I'm East Coast USA. Is there even a way to find out if this package is waiting in customs?? Without a number I have no idea how to find it, and I also have no idea who/where to call! I'm really kind of distraught because these two ponies, the second being Twilight Sky, were ones I really wanted and I spent about 30$ between the two of them! The Twilight Sky was supposed to be here by today and hasn't arrived yet either. I'm concerned if both are stuck somewhere. Is there anything I can do or somewhere I can call?? I basically have no idea where these packages could be! I'm pretty upset because I decided to splurge on these two ponies since their designs have special meaning for me. Should I just keep waiting, or can I do anything?? Are they likely lost??
