I'm starting to plan a Pony Meet near Reading, Pennsylvania to be held in September 2014. I know this is more than a year away, but I'm trying to gauge interest to help with my planning. I'm looking into renting a place to hold the meet, so having a rough estimate of people interested will help me to find an appropriate size venue.

Location: near Reading, PA
-approx. 1.5hr west of Philadelphia
-approx. 2hr north of Baltimore
-approx. 4hr east of Pittsburgh
-located about 15 minutes from an exit of the PA turnpike.

Date: mid-late September 2014, on a Saturday

Questions:
-Will you bring anyone other than yourself (significant other, friend, parent, children, ect.)? If you plan to bring children, please let me know ages so that I can plan appropriate activities.

-How would you feel about paying a small admission to help cover costs of the venue (I'm thinking $5-10 depending on the cost of the venue)?

-Would you be willing to bring a food contribution?

-Have you attended any other pony events, such as a local meet or the Fair?

Also, please be aware that while all types of pony fans are welcomed, this will be an event like the "old school pony collector meets". If you are only interested in G4 & none of the earlier Generations, this may not be the meet for you.

I recently bought a lot of ponies from Kokomo Toys on eBay. I won it for a reasonable price: $25 for 10 ponies, a Fairy Tails bird, & a case. I was particularly existed for a HTF white Bluebelle hidden in the lot. Well it arrived yesterday, and this is what I found:

I messaged the seller who is a vintage toy dealer with a real brick & mortar shop:
"Hi,
I received the lot of ponies I bought from you today. While most are in very nice shape, as pictured, one pony (white body, purple hair, pink stars) has a 1/2 hole in her face!! Every picture shows this pony from the good side & there is no mention of this major damage in the description. I don't think this type of condition falls under normal play wear. Please let me know how we can handle this situation.
Thanks"

and this is the reply I got:
"For us the lot was considered play wear. We listed a many pony lots at the same time, and tried to take good pictures of everything. I'm sorry if in the hustle and bustle we missed something. If you would like to return the lot we can issue a refund."

Really??? How can someone who has long time experience buying & selling vintage toys view a giant hole in the face as "normal play wear". The rest of the lot is nice (or can be cleaned to be nice), so I'd rather cut my loss & keep everything. It just sucks that the one really valuable pony in the lot is in such poor condition. She is shown in multiple pictures, but always from the good side.

So I guess all I have to say is that I will never buy from Kokomo Toys again. If you are looking at any of their future listings, be very careful about hidden flaws!!

This seller is not a pony seller, but since lots of people here have different interests & collections, I thought it was worth posting.

I bought a Teddy Ruxpin book & tape set from wadd5 on eBay. There was a minimal description & the picture cut off the top of the book. When the book arrived the top corner was severely crumpled & all of the pages were damaged, and the pages were coming lose from the spine. I messaged the seller & asked how we could work out this problem. He claimed that it must have happened in shipping (book arrived in a plain yellow envelope with no bubble wrap) even though there's a tiny bit of corner damage visible in the auction picture, and offered to send me a replacement. We're in the same state, so when nothing arrived within a week, I messaged him again. After that he sent out another book. The second one arrived today in worse shape than the first: the cover looks fine but half of the pages are torn off of the binding.  I messaged him again with this:
"Hi,
I received the replacement book today. While I do appreciate you sending a replacement for the first damaged book, I have to say that I'm really disappointed to find the second half of this replacement book is completely separated from its binding. Please see attached pictures. I ship & receive a lot of things, and I don't think this damaged happened during shipping. In the future, you may want to look over your items a bit more before sending them. I'm not asking for any additional replacements or refund. Best regards,"
Then I left neutral feedback: "1st book was damaged; sent replacement, also damaged. Poor attempt to resolve.". It's worth mentioning that he has had multiple neutrals & negatives in the last month.

Shortly after I got this message:
"this book was checked by multiple people why would I send another damaged book, when all I want is to make you happy.. you are damaging my seller dsr. I ask that you revise I paid shipping for t he second book, and didn't ask you to send back damaged. now I would like both sent back and will solve from there"

Umm?? Why would I pay to send anything back at this point? I already said that I don't want any more replacements or refunds. I'm considering this transaction a done deal & a bit of a loss for both him & I.

Then 5 minutes after he sent that message I got an email from eBay for a "keyword spamming" listing violation on one of my items. I have a strong feeling this guy is looking for ways to mess with me, since I've had very similar listings in the past & never had any violation notices.  I blocked him from bidding & further communication.

So, in short, this guy is probably a seller to avoid. :bigups:

I have a bunch of Fairy Tails that I may sell (I'm not 100% sure yet, as most of them are from my childhood collection). I have a buyer interested in a few, but I figured I might as well do a price check on all of them. Most are in really nice condition, with minor flaws. The only one that has any more serious faults is the yellow bird w/ the telephone symbol. So Fairy Tails experts, please help me out.  :)

-Yellow bird w/ pink fuzzy tummy; lime green stand; white comb
(Excellent)
-Aqua/mint green bird w/ lavender fuzzy tummy; dark pink stand
(Excellent)
-Baby white w/ blue hair; blue egg; dark pink bottle; dark blue comb
(Excellent)
-white bird w/ ballet slippers; yellow stand; lavender comb
(Dirt marks under left wing - I need to try to clean her before selling - this may come off)
-Dark pink bird w/ candy canes; light aqua stand; white comb
(Excellent)
-Aqua/mint green bird w/ musical notes; pink stand; yellow comb
(Dirt marks on wing tips- I need to try to clean her before selling - this may come off; otherwise excellent condition)
-Dark pink bird w/ magic hat; pink comb
(Tail slightly frizzy at end)
-Pink bird w/ hearts in a heart shape; pink mesh bow
(Yellowish spot on back of body)
-Blue bird w/ moon & stars
(Yellowish spot on back of body)
-Yellow bird w/ telephone
(Hair & tail frizzy at ends; tail trimmed a few inches; something rattling inside)

I've recently pulled my old friend Teddy Ruxpin out of storage, and I'm working on repairing him so that my little boy can share in the joy of 80's toys. I have quite a few book & tape sets, but I'm interested in buying any sets that I don't have. I'm only looking for original Worlds of Wonder Teddy items (he was reproduced by 3 other companies in the 90's & 2000's, each with their own proprietary tapes/cartridges) in good condition... of course I understand if the tapes have not been tested. Also I would prefer to only buy sets, no individual books or tapes, with the exception on the 1 cassette I'm missing in the list below.

Wanted Teddy Ruxpin titles:
    Autumn Adventure
    Anything in the Soup
    Gizmos and Gadgets
    Lost in Boggley Woods
    Medicine Wagon
    Quiet Please
    Safe at Home with Teddy
    Sign of a Friend
    Take A Good Look
    Teddy Ruxpin Lullabies II
    Teddy Ruxpin Sings Love Songs
    Teddy Ruxpin Summertime
Teddy Ruxpin Visits the Dentist: Sponsored by Crest
The Third Crystal - ***have book, need tape only***
    The Wooly What's-It
    Tweeg and the Bounders
    Tweeg Gets the Tweezles
    Water Safety with Teddy Ruxpin
    Wooly and the Giant Snowzos

If you have any for sale, please pm me with titles & asking price. Thanks a bunch!! :)

Since USPS has made exclusions for international postage that can be purchased online, I recently updated all of my auctions so that I only ship to countries for which I can still buy online postage. (I work during the week & have a one year old, so trips to the post office are not easy or practical. I pretty much exclusively use USPS's "at home" services - printing postage & having packages picked up by my mail carrier.)

So my question is this: when you select countries/regions that you don't ship to, isn't eBay supposed to block bids/BINs from buyers in those countries?

I just had someone purchase an auction via BIN & *after* purchasing they asked if I will ship to their country. :faint: This is especially frustrating as I've already had 3 non-paying bidders in the last 2 weeks, and I have a feeling that I'm about to have a 4th. :(

The Dollhouse / Price Check: 1st edition dolls MIB
« on: May 20, 2013, 11:49:55 AM »
I've been thinking of selling the last of my Monster High dolls. All are MIB, never opened. What's the current going rate for the following (all are the very first edition Wave 1 signature dolls bought during the initial pre-holiday crazy shopping season, lol):

Frankie
Clawdeen (first edition hands)
Draculaura
Lagoona
Ghoulia
Operetta (obviously this one is not from the same wave as the other girls)

I'm only looking to sell if I can get a good price, otherwise I will hold on to them a bit longer.

Ok, this is kind of a sale feeler thread.

I've been thinking of letting go of my Candy Carnival Blythe doll for quite awhile, but I haven't made the leap to officially putting her up for sale. She has never been removed from the packaging, aside from opening the outer box to get a better look at her (ie. she's still fully attached to the backing). I'd like to get $230 + shipping for her. I need to pay off a few upcoming bills, so I'm leaning more & more toward parting with this girl. If anyone is seriously interested, please send me a message. :bigups:

Here's a quick picture I snapped with my phone. Better pics available upon request.

"crawford customs" bought a bait lot of g3's from me on eBay on May 5th. No payment, no communication. Brand new ID started the same day they purchased my auction using Buy It Now. Another bad buyer to add to your blocked lists.

edited for typo.

Since I see many people rehairing Nirvana ponies, I thought it might be a good idea to bring up this subject: How should we mark ponies that have been rehaired?

Collectors have divided opinions on whether or not to rehair a rare pony. Whatever the owner of the pony decides to do, it's important to make some kind of permanent "note" on the pony so any future owner will know that the hair is not original. Recently I have been cataloging my collection & found several rehaired ponies that I bought under the assumption that they had original hair. Its often hard to tell a really well done rehair from the outside.

So what should we be doing to prevent accidental sales of "restored" ponies when buyers think its original? (Please note: a pony can change hands many times & even though "seller A" tells "buyer B" the pony was rehaired, "buyer B" may not tell the next person they sell it to. I'm not pointing fingers, its just easy to forget when you have a large number of ponies.) Should rehairs be marked under the foot, and if so how? Does any one have any other recommended methods of marking a rehair?

I've upgraded several ponies in my collection. Before I sell the doubles, I want to be sure that they are properly marked, so they will only be sold fairly for what they are in the future.

(Cross posted from Nirvana forum... but since many folks don't visit there as often, I thought I'd share over here as well.) ;)

I've decided to get rid of my old, out dated website & start from scratch. I'm taking individual pictures of every pony in my collection, starting with Nirvanas. It's still a work in progress, but please check it out. I think the page can be viewed even if you don't have a facebook account, but if not, I apologize!

http://www.facebook.com/KitkatvintageMyLittlePonyCollection

I've tried to add correct pony names & set names in their native language if I can find that information from a reliable source (mostly back card pictures). If you see a mistake (particularly spelling), please let me know.

I had an eBay buyer in the Czech Republic purchase 2 books (non-pony) from me. I shipped them on Feb. 23, and according to tracking they left the US on Feb. 26. The buyer is upset that she hasn't received then yet, and I've explained that they are most likely held up in customs. USPS tracking won't show anything after packages leave the US unless they are scanned in customs or when delivered.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has experience sending packages to the Czech Republic? Do things generally clear customs quickly or can they take several weeks?

I asked the buyer to wait 2 more weeks to see if the package arrives. If not, I will try to file an insurance claim. This is most frustrating for me because the books sold for $12 & shipping was over $55. If eBay/Paypal does force me to refund the buyer, I will be out of pocket a lot of money for shipping on a really low priced sale.
