The Dollhouse / Dolls You Wanted to Sell, but Just CAN'T
« on: June 10, 2015, 03:02:33 PM »
I am writing this as I just took down an auction for a Madame Alexander doll that I couldn't identify.

I found her last month at a church rummage sale and put her on eBay.  She didn't sell.  I was kind of glad she didn't sell (she's sooooo cute!).

I did end up re-listing her and, a week into the 10-day listing, another member sent me a PM.  The member told me which doll I had: Madeline!

I looked her up online and found that I am missing so many of her little clothing bits, which decreases her value considerably ($40-ish for complete vs $10-ish).  The church is having another rummage sale this Sunday, so there is a chance I can find some, if not all, of her accessories!

The thing is: she's so gosh darn cute that I may end up keeping her even if I don't find her other accessories.

Has this happened to you?  You find a doll and bring it home for the sole purpose of trading/selling, but just CAN'T?

Pony Corral / Fashion Style Power Ponies?!
« on: June 07, 2015, 01:46:19 PM »
I am seeing multiple listings on eBay for Fashion Style Power Ponies.  So far I've only found Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash.

I don't think they're customs...

...and they're coming from China...

When/Where do you think they'll be released?!  :dribble:

The Dollhouse / Cissy! Anyone Own This Lovey? Show Me Pictures!
« on: June 06, 2015, 06:19:55 PM »
I own a couple Madame Alexander dolls and found another while I was thrifting.  While I was trying to ID my new doll (who turned out to be Janie ), I discovered Cissy.

I have fallen in love with this 21" beauty and was wondering if anyone on the forums owned one!  If you do, can you share pictures?   :dribble:

The Dollhouse / PC: Liv Jake Doll
« on: June 02, 2015, 08:27:45 PM »
What the heck?!

I found a Jake doll at the thrift store today and I knew nothing about him except that he's part of the Liv line.

While trying to ID him, I saw that he's selling for $35 - $65 on eBay.  Is this for real?!

I'm also trying to figure out what outfit my doll is wearing.  I am beginning to think that it's a Barbie outfit of sometime as it is a prince-ly/fairy tale-ish theme...and I am not seeing any fashion packs online for Jake that look anything like this outfit.

Pony Corral / Pony Mania? At Kmart?
« on: May 16, 2015, 08:13:57 PM »
I must have looked a sight this afternoon: I stood in front of the Photo Finish EQG Pony Mania 3-Pack with my mouth wide open.

Pony Mania?

At Kmart?

On Clearance? (Which isn't really clearance because they wanted $25 or something...)

So...I thought Pony Mania was a TRU exclusive line.  This is the first time I have seen this set at this particular Kmart, despite the set being out for a while.

What gives?

Original Post:

It was a vintage Barbie Bonanza at Goodwill today!  It was too much for me to handle.

I picked the best dolls I could find and have a pile of over 20 dolls I need to ID and PC.

I'm usually pretty good at playing detective, however one of the beautiful ladies I found was re-released in 2009!

1980s Black Barbie: http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/doll/black-barbie-doll-r4468

I have the original beauty and she is in amazing shape.  She's missing an earring, shoes, and perhaps a necklace?

I see that the repro runs around $10 - $30 loose on eBay.  But what about the original?  Any ideas?

Also: Remember Toy Story Barbie?  Blonde beauty in the teal bodysuit with rainbow leggings?  Which Barbie was she based on?  I found the original 80's version, but have NO idea how to search for her.

(pictures will be coming soon, but I am SO tired right now!)

The updates took effect May 1st and I'm trying to wrap my mind around this.  I'm only discussing the changes that effect the way I list things, so bear with me.  *ahem*

http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/springupdate2015/rate-plans.html

20 free listings per month in ANY category.

An additional 20 free listings per month for certain categories (this includes Collectibles, Dolls & Bears, Toys & Hobbies)

Okay, so it's gone from 50 down to 40 (since I only sell in Dolls & Bears/Toys & Hobbies anyway)

$0.30 insertion fee after the free listings have been used...(that's not new) and final value fees are still 10%.

Now, this says that the insertion fees are unlimited if the item ends in a sale: http://announcements.ebay.com/2015/05/sellers-fee-updates-now-in-effect/

Soooooo...I can list 40 auction-style or Fixed-Price listings free, even if the item doesn't sell.  After that I'll be charged an insertion fee UNLESS the 41st+ item sells.  Okay...so how often do I list more than 40 items?  Erm...every-other month it seems.

*thinks*  So: I should make sure my higher-value items are one of the first 40 listed (i.e. Fixed Price w/ Best Offer) and list the "junk" after the first 40 & give them cheap-o starting prices to avoid being charged insertion fees.

Wait.  No.  The junky stuff or things that are unlikely to sell should be one of the first 40!  The good stuff should be listed last, 'cause I know it's a guaranteed sale!

I think I have a plan...

Pony Brag Arena / Ye Olde Castle Boast
« on: May 04, 2015, 11:36:59 AM »
I haven't gone to pick up my items just yet, but since the auctions are over & I paid, I think it's safe to brag a bit.

My 3-year old self had a pony grail: The Dream Castle!  Never got one as a kid, but it was one of the first things I searched for when I started collecting

I have had two during my years of collecting.  The first I found at a flea market with lots of pony & non-pony accessories.  I was so extremely happy!  Then, a few years later, I had the opportunity to purchase one with it's original box on eBay!  Upgrade!

The first castle was sold to a member of the TP.  The second castle?  Well, I was short on room and ended up selling it (and the box) on eBay.  It was the best choice for me, at the time, but I do miss it!

Well!  Lo and behold, I found myself another castle!  Normally, ShopGoodwill has crazy high shipping prices.  As luck would have it, it was a listing from a local store!!!!!  I'm picking it up in person   It's not perfect & it's incomplete, but I couldn't pass this nice lot by!  Look how white Majesty is! *swoon*

I did a quick search to see if they had any other ponies for sale when I found the Care-a-Lot playset!  Only missing one chair the telescope!!!!!  This has been one of those things where I made a mental note of "if I ever find this at a good price, I must buy it!"

So excited!  Here are the pics from the auctions:

Price Check Archives / PC: Seawinkle's Pink Shell
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:34:51 AM »
I'll be getting a spare shell and will be selling.  I took a look at recently ended eBay auctions and, well, the prices are all over the place!

By itself, people are buying is for $25-$30.  However, there have been auctions featuring the shell & other items for $15-ish.

So...what's a fair price?

Trader & Shipping Support / People That Don't Leave Feedback!
« on: April 22, 2015, 04:39:54 PM »
I always do my best to leave feedback in a timely manner.

I was curious why one of my buyers hasn't left me any feedback yet and checked her profile.  This woman has had an eBay account for 9 years.  Current rating of 284 with 100% positive.  She has never left feedback for a seller.  Ever.

Wow.  Just.  Wow.

The Dollhouse / Kmart! Marks Those Dolls Down NOW!
« on: April 06, 2015, 06:48:57 PM »
This is a semi-rant and semi-FYI post.

Kmart has SO MANY DOLLS on clearance.  Mainly MH & EAH...and their clearance items are currently 50% off, so you can nab nearly any doll for $10.  Even less if you have those Shop Your Way Points!

The thing is...there are, like I said, SO MANY DOLLS!  Kmarts are in the habit of marking down their clearance items until they're only a few dollars.  *flails*  I don't know if I can be patient!

Here's what I've seen:

Two different Kmarts have 10 - 20 of the EQ Sonata Dusk and Aria Blaze packs at $27
EAH Legacy Day Apple & Raven at $22
Ashlynn & Hunter at $31
SO many MH Casta Fierce dolls at $22
A horde of Jane Boolittle dolls at $19
Viperine at $18
Clawdia Wolf at $18
13 Wishes Clawdeen & Frankie at $20
...and other various MH characters around the $17 price...

*wrings hands* I just really want them to mark these dolls down.  Fast.  There are SO MANY.  SOOOOO MANY that there is no possible way that they're all going to sell, even if they have a 50% sale.  Oh, yeah, ponies too...Styling Strands Fluttershy and those rainbow-flap-flap Princess Twilight & Cadence ponies...and I KNOW that the EQG Stage is going to make it into the clearance aisle.  No one is buying them at the $40 they're asking...

Someone!  Make time go faster

The Dollhouse / Benzoyl Peroxide on a Doll Face?
« on: April 06, 2015, 03:51:05 PM »
Found a first edition DS 12" Flynn Rider at Goodwill and omgjustcouldn'tleavehimbehind!  *breathes*

The thing is...he has a blue dot of ink/marker at the tip of his nose.

Will using 10% benzoyl peroxide cause the plastic to completely bleach out, or is it safe on flesh-colored vinyl?

Pony Corral / Magic Message Ponies and Their Amazing Goop!
« on: April 02, 2015, 10:16:05 AM »
I never was "into" the Magic Message ponies, but I'm giving them a chance  now that I am re-building my collection.

The clear film that was applied to their symbols: my understanding is that it was a protective layer applied to the color-change symbols.

I noticed that with the MM ponies I have, their film has peeled off into little goopy balls around the symbol (from kids rubbing their symbols like they were Aladdin's magic lamp).

How do you deal with this?  Do you peel the goop away?  Do you leave it alone?

The Dollhouse / Show Me Your Dolls' Dolls!
« on: March 26, 2015, 02:34:53 PM »
I know some of us accessorize our dolls with little dollies of their own.  Sometimes we give them pets.  I'm feeling the need for some pic spam, so show me your dolls' dolls!

This is an oldie, but still one of my faves:
