Magic Message Ponies and Their Amazing Goop!

I never was "into" the Magic Message ponies, but I'm giving them a chance  now that I am re-building my collection.

The clear film that was applied to their symbols: my understanding is that it was a protective layer applied to the color-change symbols.

I noticed that with the MM ponies I have, their film has peeled off into little goopy balls around the symbol (from kids rubbing their symbols like they were Aladdin's magic lamp).

How do you deal with this?  Do you peel the goop away?  Do you leave it alone?

I only have one MM pony, and her symbol is just really sticky. I would probably try to remove the goop, if I were you.

I have two that I got from bait lots, their symbols were so bad they fell off, so I have two with no symbols whatsoever haha!

I wonder, does the goop layer (when it's not goopy) keep the symbols from falling off?

I have a magic hat with out the layer, she just has the symbols underneath!

I don't have any MM ponies, so I can't help but would love to hear what others have to say still.

I've got a Cloud Puff like that.  Kinda sad!  I wonder if it's possible to re-create the symbols.  (not that I'm that great with a paintbrush!)

I either seem to get them with symbols so intact they no longer change, or rubbed so they come off. Same with the Nurse Ponies and their heat sensitive heart (Hasbro did not learn, sigh).

I would leave it as it is, honestly, unless it looks like transferring to another pony in your cupboard, in which case, maybe really carefully try and get the goopy bit off.

I just kind of leave stuff like that alone and give them room on the shelf from other ponies. You can re-create the symbols there is thermal paint that can do this.

Oooh! Dont touch. It takes very little for MM symbols to simply slide or lift off to be honest. If you have any of the protective layer left, even if just in the "goopy" balls as you describe I would leave as is.
