Title: Halloween Contest! (Winner up pg 10)

Hey guys,

I think you're used to the fact I'm digging holding contests once a month. It's time for another one and this contest will be spooky fun!
 I'm not going to put restrictions on your photo really just a few things.
Rules
1) It must include ponies any generation you would like (including Nirvanas and customs)
2) some sort of Halloween theme be it ponies with Jack-O-Lanterns or ponies in Halloween costume.
3) Other toys and fun things may be included, but ponies should be the main focus
4)Two pictures for your entry only. You're welcome to show me more of the pictures you liked, but pick two main ones. You may edit or change your pictures during the photo submission time. Simply edit the images in your post. The last day at midnight is when I'll finally take your pictures as final submissions.
5) Creativity Creativity! I know how it is to lack proper photography equipment, and I'm judging more on the ideas and things included in the photo not the quality of the photo itself.
6) Photo explanation: A few sentences or even a paragraph explaining the picture.

Prizes
I always tend to do random prizes, but I'll give you a bit of a hint here. I might have choices for you to pick from or they will more than likely be surprises.
G4 pony item
1 G1 pony rehair (I rehair a lot!)
Halloween fun items...and maybe one more little surprise.

Because I want to make one really lovely box this time there will only be one place for my first place winner. That way I can focus on one box instead of multiple ones.  ;)


Dates
10/5/12-11/1/12: Picture submissions (I'm giving that one extra day after Halloween since I'm sure people will be busy on the holiday)
11/2/12- winner announced (slight delay working on it)
11/3-11/24- shipment of prize (I'm giving myself a bit of time here to finish wrapping things up and getting items together to fit my individual winner. You guys know I'm a slow poke!) :P

Wow guys! This was an awesome turn out, and if I'm not mistaken around 35 pictures were submitted for the contest! I want to thank everyone that participated, and judging is underway. I'm picking my favorites out and having the wife settle which is the best. It's a bit tougher this round only picking one!  I hope to have it announced tonight or sometime Tuesday.

I really want to applaud everyone on their amazing effort. This was a wonderful turnout, and I hope you'll all participate again for the Christmas contest...not sure what that will entail.  :lookround:


To tide everyone over here is a photobucket link (should work tell me if it doesn't) containing all contestant pictures. It makes it easier for me to flip through and looking. I thought everyone else might also enjoy taking a gander at the lovely work here.

Note: Not all pictures are labeled with the owner just yet. I'm still working on it, and if you notice a picture missing give me a nudge. I'll fix it.

hmm im in! ill edit my post at a later date with pics... gonna have to do some thinking and prolly a lot of construction once i get an idea i like.

so for now heres my form:

Favorite Halloween candy: hmm... i like gummy things and crunchy/ricey chocolate. HATE dark or white chocolate tho.
Halloween items you like: not really sure, i like a bit of everything. love kittys so black cats are fun, spiders and spiderweb stuff, i couldnt really tell ya lol
Halloween items you dislike and definitely do not want: nothin comes to mind.
Do you customize and like hair or bait ponies?: yes and yes. =P i can always use hair, fun paints, rhinestones, and bait bait bait! only really plan on working with G1s, the occasional G4 brushables, and maybe some blind bag repaints tho. i like G3s but dont really have much interest in them.
Interests or other items you collect that could be included: i love love love snowleopards and Kitsunes (multi-tailed foxes) i love nerdy stuff- vintage nintendo game stuff like Mario characters (my favorites: Bobomb, koopas, and goombahs), im always looking for 'black mage vivi' stuff from final fantasy for the bf... pretty much any of the old roleplaying videogames and stuff related to it... im a bit of an anime geek.. Chobits, Inu yasha, Cardcaptors, the list goes on and on... i love popples and staple pullers (shut up theyre cute) and anything sparkley and shiney (glitter is evil tho!) and Keys! can never have enough skeleton key or old lock type stuff! ill stop there or ill just keep rambling about everything.

well i gotta get ready for company now, its gamenight, (yay roleplaying!) ill start brainstorming on halloween ideas =P

This is marvelous! Can the pictures be of your Halloween costume (ie cosplay of a pony)? Or does it have to be drawings or photos OF ponies in costume? Or is it so open-ended to include all of these ideas and more?

Hmm the main thing must be using the toy ponies. If you can incorporate other things in there that's great, but mostly about the ponies. I hope that helps.

Favorite Halloween candy:Tootsie Rolls, Twix, Snickers, Twizzlers, Sourpatch, sweedish fish, Starburst, Skittles, Chew Airheads, Nerds... I like most non- chocolate candies.

Halloween items you like: Candy. I don't celebrate Halloween, so please no Halloween decorations. I will take glowsticks though.

Halloween items you dislike and definitely do not want: Anything sacrilegious. I don't care for Halloween items.

Do you customize and like hair or bait ponies?: No. I will however take real tails that have been removed and are still soft & silky.

Interests or other items you collect that could be included: Lady Lovely Locks, Lego, Starwars.

I know I have no shot at winning, but I totally had fun dressing up my G2's! Halloween was a big part of my childhood and so were G2's so it felt so nice and was like a little nostalgia trip to have both in one. So here is my photo:

The girls are getting ready to head out trick or treating! I set them up in a way that reminds me of when my sister, brother and I would pose for pictures before going out trick or treating. The witch represents me. Dressing as a witch was MY thing as a little girl. I had my face painted green and everything! I had the cutest little broom stick I would carry around with me too!The cowgirl represents my sister because she was always going as simple sweet things, including a bride one time! And the vampire/dracula represents my brother who always wanted to be something dark. Posing with them are little props/animals that go with their costumes. I hope everyone enjoyed my photo. I had a lot of fun putting it together. It's not the best quality and is pretty simple, but to me.. it represents one of the greatest times of my childhood. Thank you for looking!


Favorite Halloween candy: I absolutely love those little fun size candy bars. Snickers is my favorite! I also have an addiction to york patties and of course, candy corn!

I think they turned out pretty darn cute. I'm ont sure, but I also believe this is the first G2 submission I've had. I want to say the last contest there were all types but G2 so hooray for some girls showing up! Oooh where did you get the cut outfit stuff or are they G2 things I don't know about? :lol:

Favorite Halloween candy: We don't have much Halloween related Candy in Germany - so I would say - surprise me!! I like Junior Mints and any kind of Cadburry Choclate in general.

Before we moved here the lady and I would pick pumpkins at the patch. Then, I would carve them a day or so before. I always do patterns and it takes me a bit to do two.  >_<

We haven't seen any new ones in a while, actually!  Been too busy watching American Pickers, A Place in the Sun, Undercover Boss, and The X-Factor, lol. 

Don't get too excited about my pic yet... my creativity and talent is lacking compared to most of the people here, but I still wanna try. :)

Hmm I haven't had much of a response about either extending or keeping the dates, so I'll keep our current date. I suppose if the contest ends and there are not many entries oh well! I did snag some a few G4 things the other day to be part of a choice of prizes for the winner. I'm also picking through ponies to start the rehair. This should be interesting. ;)

I will say to warn whoever wins the box will be Halloween themed and have Halloween candy...even if I'm sending it in November. :silly:

Ok, here's my entry! So exciting!

The first picture is one I took of a Halloween themed custom Pony I made a few months ago; Belladonna the wicked pony Witch. Her magic is stronger at night, so she is working on a spell to make night time last forever!

The second picture is one I took this weekend after stocking up on some extra Halloween items to make a pony diorama scene so I could enter it in this competition.
Here we have Trixie and Belladonna casting witchy spells in a spooky graveyard on Halloween surrounded by their creepy pets. They are hoping to catch a glimpse of the fabled Nightmare Moon! Do you think she'll pay them a visit?

Favorite Halloween candy: I was once in the US for Halloween and found these cute little candy corns in the shape of pumpkins, they were great! Especially since we don't have Candy Corn in the UK.
Halloween items you like: Anything to do with Jack-O-Lanterns, they're my favourite part of Halloween, Black Cats, Skulls, Bats, Moons and Stars are all good!
Halloween items you dislike and definitely do not want: I don't really need any masks/costumes, I don't like anything gory or murder related, I prefer Halloween to be about more traditional supernatural creatures. Except Devils, I don't like things with them on. I'm more about ghosts, skeletons, witches etc..
Do you customize and like hair or bait ponies?: I customise G4s, I'm always buying Hair.
Interests or other items you collect that could be included: I love crystals, especially Citrine, My favourite animals are Foxes, so anything to do with them, I love nice scented candles and incense, I collect He-Man and She-Ra merchandise, I collect Tarot Cards and Oracle Cards with nice artwork on them (even though I don't do Tarot readings), I like Folk music, inspirational quotes, Urban Fantasy fiction...

Oh yes, it's a Wizard and Witch picture lol, Hogwarts style.  My display is currently a work in progress.  The Snape ponies were commissioned and made by the lovely Salli.    :lovey:

Down the hall some of the Hogwart students were throwing a Halloween party. 
First Year Baby Giggles, from Ravenclaw, came as a scary zombie.
Second Year Baby Apple Delight, from Hufflepuff, came as She-Ra.
Fourth Year Rainbow Dash, from Griffindor came as a Perfume Puff. 
Fifth year Snuzzle, from Ravenclaw, came as Monster High Dead Tired Ghoulia. 
Sixth year So Soft Totsy, from Slytherin, came as Monster High Spectra. 
Apple pie, pumpkin pie, and some junk food is a must for a Hogwarts Halloween party!

I got them from a store we have over here in England called ASDA. It's actually owned by WalMart, so maybe you could get similar Halloween things from a WalMart store?

The story:

Baby Lofty and Sunny Daze had been inseparable. Sunny D had always been her baby sitter from the time she was just a newborn baby, and they were practically sisters. They did everything together- Sunny Daze took her new places all the time and introduced her to so many friends, if you ask her, Lofty will tell you how much she feels she owes Sunny Daze for her outstanding friendship and love. But not even the sunniest, most radical pony in all of Ponyland can live forever.

Sunny Daze got sick several months earlier and she passed before Lofty could get in to visit her one last time. The baby pony hadn't been the same since, she'd just lost her best friend and her older sister, and there was so much that she needed to say to her that would forever be left unsaid... All of the ponies tried to cheer her up, but nothing was working. On Halloween, Baby Lofty's favorite holiday, she didn't even dress up. She stayed at home, locked away in her room- Halloween had been their holiday. Their special holiday, and this year, and for every year afterwards, Lofty would have to spend it without the best baby sitter in the whole wide world to spend it with.

Abra-ca-dabra, though, had much different plans. A pony Lofty's age shouldn't have such a huge burden to carry on her shoulders, so Abra took it upon herself to try one of the hardest spells in the book- she wanted to bring back Sunny D, just for a night. And it worked! Sunny visited Lofty asleep in her bed, nudging her awake and telling her to get up. "You didn't wear a costume this year, so I wore one for you!" she said as she took off her mask. Lofty wondered if it was a dream, or if it really was real, but when she jumped from bed and ran to Sunny Daze to give her a hug, she thought that it felt very real. With tears in her eyes the baby pegasus pony held onto her old baby sitter and cried her heart out, and like the friend she was, Sunny D comforted her through all of it, so by the end of the night, before it got too late, they could go trick-or-treating with the other ponies one last time.

Baby Lofty does have some eye rust but it's actually not that bad, these pictures make her look like she did before she got her oxyclean bath, haha! Also it's too bad you can't really see Sunny D's hairstyle in these, I worked so hard on that  :yikes: The mask Sunny's wearing was completely handmade by me for these pictures, I'm actually kinda proud of it! XD

I know this is short (sorry still not feeling well), but I wanted to say these are looking great guys! I love the work that has gone into these costumes for the ponies. Also I do see a special little girl hanging in your pic there MLP! ;)

Cheese: I have no problem with a day of the dead picture. That would actually be pretty neat.


I'm going to extend the date for everyone till the 2nd. That's just one more day. I had originally intended for it to end on a Friday. I guess I mixed my days up. That gives some lurkers another chance to get a picture in.

It's time for Storytime with Snapdragon!

One Halloween, the ponies decided to go trick-or-treating! Dutifully, Blossom pulled on her old Hawaiian-tourist costume, and trucked the kids around from house to house, grumbling the whole way.

"This is gonna be so boring," Blossom harrumphed, trotting after the happily chattering youngsters, trying to hide her tailless booty under her grass skirt. As the littlest filly struggled to make a knock even loud enough to hear on the massive front door, Blossom wondered, Did we come to the right house?

"HELLO?" thundered a massive voice, coming from several leagues above their heads.

"Great galloping -" Blossom sputtered.

"Trick or treat!!" the youngsters chirped, bouncing in place to grab the giant's attention.

The giant looked around for a moment, then down at the little ponies prancing in front of it. It stared at them for a moment, and then a massive smile cracked its face.

didnt really have time and energy to make a proper background, and my construction paper has gone missing, so i had to improvise. >.< pretty much all my effort went into the costumes themselves, so hopefully youll get a kick out of them!

=D both costumes are entirely handsewn and removable (will fit ponies of the same pose) Spawn cape is wired for poseing/twisting, so are the chains. baby Fizzys wings are handsewn on a wire frame for poseing, with real feathers. beaded and gemmed backpiece for a lil added bling. =]

Chobits, Inu yasha, Cardcaptors, the list goes on and on... i love popples and staple pullers (shut up theyre cute) and anything sparkley and shiney (glitter is evil tho!) and Keys! can never have enough skeleton key or old lock type stuff! ill stop there or ill just keep rambling about everything.

thanks, they were a lot of fun to make, i was gonna originally have spawn-lofty takin some of the babies trick or treating, and was gonna make a ghostbusters costume and a cthulhu costume but then ran out of time and energy. had a killer cold all week. >.<

Thanks. :) Originally I was going to put a skirt on Gypsy, but I decided against it because I didn't want to cover up her pretty tambourines.  I will tell my son you like his spiderweb.  He LOVES making snowflakes, so I was super impressed when he came up with the spiderweb version. 

Yeah, this was a great contest.  I am amazed by the quality and creativity of some of the entries.  It's probably good you're getting your wife's help... I can't imagine trying to come up with a winner on my own.  :shrug: :help:

I would like to thank everyone for participating! I want you to know it was incredibly difficult to judge for this contest. We had a total of 35 pictures. That’s amazing guys! I love your enthusiasm and the things you created. In the end there could only be one winner. My wife and I had to go back and forth several times, but we finally agreed on one. We picked the one we thought had the best blend of customs and background. It was not a super complex piece, but it really gave the message of a delightful Halloween with ponies.  Our winner is

Yeah it was def hard to pick. I had several in mind, and I had my wife help me. She didn't like the same ones, so we argued about that a bit. Then we got it down to a few and kinda mutually picked one. I also had an online friend helping me. It was a hard call on this one! >_<

If it makes you feel better my wife saw your picture and chuckled. She was all "Diamond ring butt pony!" :lol:  She makes fun of my Gypsy and is determined that her tambourines are Diamond Rings sooo
