All right, decided to give it a try https://www.facebook.com/twistedponies.  Feel free, anyone, to like it, if you so desire :).

Customs / Custom pages on facebook?
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:20:46 PM »
Has anyone made a seperate facebook profile for just their customs? And if so, how did that work out? I'm considering it, mainly based on the fact that I prefer to keep my personal profile private, but I would like people to be able to find my custom stuff if they search for it.  And maybe I would stop spamming my real-life friends with constant pony pictures ;).

What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing this?

I hear a lot of complaints that Hasbro isn't putting enough variety into the brushables, so I'm wondering what else people would like to see.  Also, I want to do some customs based on the show :).

Wanted! / Common g4's for customizing
« on: February 25, 2014, 05:10:47 PM »
I need g4 brushables for customs!  Condition doesn't matter, and I'd prefer the common ones, at as cheap of a price as possible!  It would be really great to be able to get several from the same person to save on shipping too.  Also interested in the larger FS g4's.  I can either pay you, or trade G1's- this is what I have available: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,348230.0.html.

Customs / Re: Show me/ Tips for working with Breezies!!
« on: February 21, 2014, 12:12:51 PM »
Oh, the antennae should just pull out and pop back in. I'd do it before any painting if you can though because the plug thingy is pretty tight and squishes the head quite a bit getting them back in. Any you'll need to carve the little thing out over her back to get to her tail. And then that little thing, you can sometimes get the even littler piece inside the bigger thing to carve out too and the lace/whatever you are using for wings is supposed to go there. I have had issues with those having too much glue to come apart though, so then you can just stick the wings under the same bit as the tail.

I've done quite a few of these, this pretty much covers what you need to know.  The hardest thing is taking out that little tab that hold the wings/tail in, you'll likely need to use a utility knife for that.  Re-hairing them can be kind of a pain just because of how tiny the head/hair plugs are.  I have some taken apart around here somewhere, I'll see if I can get a picture sometime soon.  Here's some Windy Wing Breezies :).

Customs / Let's play a game: Have you ever customized a...?
« on: January 27, 2014, 03:48:58 PM »
Ok, here's how it goes.  Someone asks the question "Have you ever customized a (specific type of pony)."  If you have, you reply with a photo of the one you've done.  Then you get to pick the next type of pony to ask the question about.  Hopefully this makes sense.  I figure this will be a good way to see a variety of unique customs in one thread :).

So, for example, let's pretend someone had asked, "Have you ever customized a precious pocket pony."  And then I could post a picture of the one I've done:

Then I get to choose the next pony type.  So I will ask, have you ever customized a summer or windy wing pony?

Off Topic / Re: Did you ever play Sierra Games as a kid?
« on: January 09, 2014, 07:36:38 AM »
Yes!  I played King's Quest 4 and 5 till the end...which was difficult to get to, because you had to figure out what to do next, and you couldn't just look it up on a walkthrough.  Took us forever to figure out how to get out of that whale :).  I also recommend the remakes, they're everything you loved about the originals with better graphics.  I think someone's still working on re-doing KQ4, at least I'm hoping, as that one was my favorite.

Customs / Pan's Labyrinth Pale Man Pony- Warning- Gorey & Creepy!
« on: January 09, 2014, 05:32:00 AM »
So I wanted to do a custom as a Christmas present for a friend, I asked him what he would want if he could have a pony version of anything, and this was his answer.  It was kind of hard to visualize this as a pony, but I love a challenge, so I decided to give it a try.  I'm quite happy with how he turned out, he's probably the creepiest pony I've done yet...

Sometimes, I seem to have a compulsion to do entire sets.  This is my latest, TE baby Ponies.  Every one of these guys has gotten a new set of jewel eyes.  Most had been re-haired, given full-body repaints (except the ones that were the right color to begin with), and of course, new symbols.  Only exceptions are baby Quackers, who I only re-did the eyes on, and baby Tic Tac Toe, who I did eyes, re-haired a couple plugs, and touched up her symbol.  Anyhow, here they are.  They're available for sale at $20 each, or $15 for Quackers/Tic Tac Toe.

Bright Eyes, Masquerade, Sweet Stuff & Gingerbread SOLD!

Customs / Giant Minty, a My Pretty Pony Custom
« on: November 15, 2013, 05:51:55 AM »
Here she is, my first pretty pony custom!  I took her apart and filled in the gaps in the eyes and ears, painted her, put some hair in, and put her back together...it was all actually easier to do than I would have guessed.  I'm pretty happy with how she turned out :).  She's pictured next to Snuzzle just for size comparison, I don't have a regular Minty handy.

Customs / Spike the Dragon, All Grown Up!
« on: September 12, 2013, 12:42:50 PM »
So, I was thinking Spike would look pretty cool when he's older and bigger.  Or, maybe this is Spike's Dad?  In any case, I decided to do a bigger, more grown up version of him and this is what I came up with.  I used a g1 Secret Surprise pony as a base, since a bit bigger than regular g1's.  I filled in the hole where the saddle was with mesh and clay, and then sculpted everything else with apoxie sculpt and painted him with acrylics.  He is shown next to his baby self for comparison.  If anyone is interested, he is for sale for $60 obo.

Customs / Magic Sculpt?
« on: August 29, 2013, 04:34:06 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has used this before for sculpting on ponies?  How does it compare to apoxie sculpt, and which do you prefer?  I'm debating on whether to give it a try or not.
