Do you know what ponies you have?

my collection isn't too large so far so i know the ponies i have, but i really like the spreadsheet idea you guys were mentioning above. i need to get one made before my collection really gets out of hand, and knowing me it's going to ahah

Yes, I have cataloged all mine in a spreadsheet. And it helps, that my collection isn't that big.

This is something I plan to do soon.
I know most of the ponies I have, just not by name when it comes to G3..

I have an incredibly teensy herd, so they're very easy to keep track of; it consists of 7 G1s, 2 G3s and 3 fakies. I'd like to add a couple of G2s into the mix as well, it's just a matter of tracking them down!

I'd say I know my collection pretty well. G4 is my main area and sometimes I get confused on variants, but I have a few different lists that I keep updated with what's new and it sorts itself out as I become familiar with them. I don't have any G2s and only one G3 so smooth sailing there.

G1s I have a little bundle of, but I tend to organise them into families, friends and relationships, so it's pretty easy to remember who I have on shelf just by remembering one and then who's close to them. I think I have a list somewhere but I buy them so rarely that I don't need to hammer away at checking them off.

Like many others here, I have spreadsheets to keep track of my collection (and it makes the adding up a lot easier!)so I know what I've got and a wish list so I know what I don't have but want   I usually know by sight, if not by name, whether or not I have a pony.

Spreadsheets are a great idea, be sure to save a copy online just in case you ever have a fire or flood or something

I only collect G1 so I know my collection pretty well but still have to go and check from time to time. I have also started my own book with all my ponies in date order and colour coded each name depending on there condition.

g1s- from my childhood? loosely. displayed yes
g2- yes
g3..... like 4 so yes.
g4- again so few so yes.

so far my g2 to g4's can be counted on my hands. so not many. but i'm getting more g2s in a trade. so excited!!

do boxes and boxes of ponies for sale count? if yes, then um... no clue
plus boxes of baits...i don't even remember who most of them were.

I have no clue anymore, all I know is that I have a lot of Sundances and dirty tangled G1s, and oh god I am so sick of collector pose ponies; tons of G4s to the point where I forget which ones I even have anymore, just tons of Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, Luna, Twilight, Cadence, and so many MiB collecting dust in a box; and enough G3s to insulate my house with. I don't even want most of the G3s anymore at the moment, I may just shove em all in a few boxes and sell them in lots. So tired of tripping over piles of baby princess whatevers and Sweetberries!
I am so disorganized, it's just depressing at this point, I used to be able to memorize my G4 and G1 collections, but that's not even close to true anymore. And that's not to say anything about the Blind Bags, Funkos, EQG dolls, and Plushies!

As for G2s, I could count how many unique ones I have on just two hands, though I couldn't tell you what their names are. I do quite like them though, but I'll likely never collect more unless they just so happen to show up anywhere.

One day I'll need to sort everything out...

Yes I do! I only collect G1 - US release and some Nirvanas (I have been downsizing them) so I remember them all.

I have all the G1s with the exception of Rapunzel (don't like her that much anyway!) and don't have Mommy and Baby set!

Need to downsize more but parting with nny of my herd is going to be VERY hard after so many years of collecting!!

I know which G1 ponies I have. Since I do not really collect the other generations, I usually have no idea what's hanging around here.

Yes, almost always.  Except the large pile of triplicate g3s that need to be clean and sold.

Unless someone has gone awandering, I should be pretty much know everyone who is there...now where everyone is in the pony room, thats a whole other story.

I know all of mine though I do lose track of what g1-g3 baits I have (there are a lot of them) and occasionally I will still think I have a custom I sold

G2s: none
G3s: 2 but I gave them away
G4s: so many including plush and other merchandise.
