G1s - yes
G2s - not so much
G3s - barely. I just organised my collection and found 3 ponies that I'd bought/received in a swap (I put them on the want list!) that I already had.
G4s - yes except I find it hard to keep track of the older Pinkie Pie variations for my armies

G1's - for the most part.  I get confused on babies and baby sea ponies, and on a few that I have but need upgrades on.

G2's - not really.  I prefer them MOC and have gotten rid of the ones I upgraded to MOC status, but Aadra keeps getting them for me for birthdays/xmas and I have really lost track! 

G3's - I used to know, then decided not to collect them anymore.  Now I have no idea.

Yes, I have cataloged all mine in a spreadsheet. And it helps, that my collection isn't that big.

Yeah. Every once in a while I think I do have one that I don't, but I'm good 95% of the time.

I'm good on most of the G1s, though I need to look up baby sea ponies. G2- no- I have a pic list I need to check. G3- mostly yes, I can usually spot one I don't have. G4- yep! almost have all the brushables (different characters) only missing a couple.

I have lost count but I am good at updating my wishlist as my conquests come in. For example, I know there are just 2 more wingers on my list, Whirly and Moonjumper!

G3s I got a bit lost but nearly on top

G4 I have given up collecting loose ponies - just getting a few MIP when I happen past a Wilco/TrU

G1's - I have a spreadsheet for them since I just started collecting them a little over a month ago.  I know which ones I have, where/who I got them from, and how much I paid for them!

G4's - Eh...I started collecting these in 2011, so I have no idea what I have.    I can account for the newer things I've gotten, the Funko figures, the con exclusives and "others" (trading cards, dog tags, etc.) but blind bags and most brushables are always a surprise to me because I can never remember which ones I bought or when I got them.

Yep, I know exactly who I have and all their names. Though, I do blank on BB names occasionally.
I keep a list of all my ponies too. It helps me keep track of what version everyone is.

Mostly, for all. G3s are my largest section, but when I see any at Value Village, they are usually the common ones, so I know I have them. I have a tracking checklist for G4 releases so I can keep track of those as they come out.

I've been making a giant spreadsheet to track everything in my collection (along with merch, etc, etc), and the ponies I don't have. Eventually I'll be converting it to PDF so I can have with me in Dropbox.

g3- a handful. or rather, a bagful
g3.5- a few
g4- A great deal.

I have all of the "what to collect" books so I'm going to get all of my stampede out so that I can mark them to help me keep track.

Sure thing I do. For one my collection's still rather small, so I know which ones I do have and which ones I've yet to buy. That and I keep checklists all the time - that way it helps me keep my collection organized and let's me know which ponies I still need to collect in order to complete my collection.

Yup    But I only collect G1 and have a pretty intensive inventory!
