Prototype Rosedust
« on: May 20, 2023, 01:29:50 PM »
I just noticed for the first time in all these years that in the old flutter pony commercial, the kid is playing with a walking pose Rosedust. Then, when the commercial ends, it shows Rosedust in her traditional standing pose. Very interesting. There was a prototype Rosedust out there at one time.

I apologize if this is old news to everybody else. Someone else  in years past may have already noticed this before me.

Yep, and Forget-Me-Not is also in a different pose! I always wonder where those lone ponies ended up when we see something like that :)

DreamvallyMLP right!  Like did the kids in the commercial get to keep them or did a member of the crew or Hasbro team get to take them home to their kid.

Interesting details to notice, even after all these years!

I imagine these are hard plastic prototypes but they would be very difficult to track down if they exist in someone's private collection.

It's always fascinating wondering what happened to those ponies. The ones in the commercials may have even been resin ones like the starlight babies that showed up some several years back at a carboot sale.

I suspect a lot of them were destroyed, sadly, but it would be nice to think they went home with kids. Just, they may not be up to 100% sale toy standard...so...it's hard to be sure.

I love how we see prototypes in the commercials that were changed before final production.

IIRC, someone found an interview with one of the girls in the Dream Castle commercial and she said she was the backup girl for the one featured in the sea pony commercial.  She said she got a Snuzzle for doing the DC one.
