My guess is just money

I was watching a documentary about 80s G.I. Joe and Hasbro had all the prototypes painted up . . . Then they were like "okay, we don't have enough money for all these paint applications."  They thought about removing a little paint from each action figure, but then they were like "Why don't we just remove ALL the paint from ONE action figure?"

And so . . .

The funny thing is Snake Eyes was a wildly popular character because he was a ninja dressed in all black, lol.

With Pipp and Izzy, they both came from larger sets with more accessories (Royal Room Reveal and Critter Creation), so I guess the higher price point allowed for more paint.

Funny how a little bit of paint can make a world of difference. Do you plan on adding Sunny/Hitch's socks and Hitch's blaze?

Zipp, Hitch, and Sunny are from Crystal Adventures sets (single packs), Izzy is from Critter Creations, and Pipp is from Royal Room Reveal.  (But Pipp and Izzy also have Crystal Adventure sets.)  They're about 3" tall.

Such a small touch but what a real improvement! Nice work.

(Besides, those ponies look pretty cute! What is this... so far I haven't liked the look of a single G5 toy )
