G4 wedding castle prototype

some years ago i remember seeing some pics online of what supposedly was a prototype in the creation stage for the wedding castle playset
however, i cannot find much evidence to this now just searching up. the only thing i found was a pic of the shining armor prototype included in these pics
i would like to know if anyone here has the pics of the set in question

I've seen the Shiny proto before, but the castle proto is a new one on me. I hope someone else has photos *stalks*

Are we sure that SA proto was meant to go with the playset? That one always looked like a Fashion Style pony to me - I'm terrible at judging sizes/scales though so maybe I'm mistaken...

I do love those colours, I wish they'd reused them for another pony!

yes! it was supposed to be a normal brushable size
the castle was all gray/white, very detailed, looked kinda like a 3d print

It also showed a lot of test shots of Shining Armor prototypes with different hair material.  Breaks my heart that they chose the troll hair, lol!

Edit:  I also remember seeing prototype pictures of the castle.  One of the differences was it had stairs on both sides, whereas with the mass-produced castle they took the stairs off one side and had the porch swing instead.

if you look closely you can even see she used to have a shorter horn, like a unicorn

Sigh, look how long and lustrous his troll hair looks in that photo, though! I feel like the finished version we got had kind of ... troll-pattern-baldness by comparison.

That rooted hair one looks amazing! It reminds me of (K)Nightshade, from the G1 cartoon! That curly purple bouffant!

Would also have loved to see it! But although the writer's original intention was for Cadance to be a unicorn, Hasbro may always have wanted her to be an alicorn. It seems they had decided that princess equalled alicorn at that point.

I'm convinced that Princess Cadence becoming an alicorn was directly related to Hasbro deciding to make Princess Celestia's toys show accurate (white).  They wanted a PINK alicorn toy and by god they were going to have one.

I'm 100% certain Hasbro always intended Cadance to have wings. I don't think it's at all a coincidence that Celestia toys turned white the second Cadance appeared on the shelves.

Oh I wish we did have that brushable Shinning Armor (still hoping that they will finally give us some normal brushable male ponies in g5).
I really like that molded shirt accessory looks cutter then the final version.

I know Faust said Cadence didn't have wings while she was still working on the show, and iirc, she was a regular unicorn in the scripts for the episode she debuted in. They definitely decided to make her an alicorn so that they can make Celestia's toys more on-model, but that doesn't mean she was initially intended to be one. I wonder if concept art exists of uni-Cadence.

Yeah, as I understand it the episode's script (or maybe treatment?) was written first, before Hasbro had decided what the toys would look like. But if Hasbro immediately decided they wanted her to be an alicorn, a unicorn prototype wouldn't have been made. I've never seen any concept art of her as a unicorn either. Would've been nice if we could see the storyboards for the episode, to see what Cadance looked like in those.

^ this is what I meant... I know the show crew wanted her to be a unicorn originally... but I don't think Hasbro the toy people were on board with that for even a second. :p
