How do you clean G-1 ponywear?
« on: December 19, 2019, 11:34:26 AM »
Hi!
I recently was digging through my G-1 stuff and I came across a bunch of pony wear. Some of the stuff that I have is wrinkled and have a few (washable??) stains. So, I was just wondering if it is safe to wash the clothing parts with regular detergent and softener? How do you all clean you pony wear? Sorry if this is a weird question but I was not sure.  I appreciate any advice that y’all might have! :)

I would try hand-washing just for fear of the washing machine being harsh, or I would suggest putting them in a delicates bag. Which pieces have stains?

I generally don’t wash ponywear, but when I do, here are a few things I do:

1) I use Woolite. It’s for delicates, and I hand wash.  I have no idea if it really is better, but I err on the side of caution.

2) Be careful with anything that has very strong dyes(Like Neon Lights).  They’re more likely to run.

3) I do wash the shoes a lot.  Dish soap really cuts the grease.

4) I’d avoid washing anything with delicate fabrics(Hearts and Candy dress), or small bits that could fall off.

One is the purple party time dress and on a white bunny costume. It looks to be like a pen bled a little on the bunny outfit so it might be removable....  :(

I use a spot of liquid wool and delicates detergent in tepid water, then rinse, pat dry with a clean towel and arrange somewhere warm to dry (not directly on a radiator). I guess if you need to spot treat I would try a little hand soap. I find a bar of good quality hand soap can be great for getting out stains.

Hope that helps.

What about oxyclean? Would that be alright to use on pony clothing?

I put mine in a pillow case, tied the end and put the machine on a gentle cycle :)

I hand wash and I’ll do one piece of clothing at a time in case of die bleeding. Also, if you have a salad spinner, that works really well to get a lot of the excess water out and helps things dry faster.
