This sounds fun! All non-Nirvana G1 ponies are contenders in this, so I've got some Europe ponies in my list, wouldn't be fair to not include them!

Ahh it was so difficult to pick just one! Years three, six and ten were particularly difficult. From Year 3 I also love Lemondrop, AJ and Bubbles, and so many ponies from Year 6, such as the Sweetberry set, the Newborn Twins, and the BnG set (can't even pick one pony from each set!). And not to forget Barnacle! Year 10 appears to be "the year" of my childhood ponies so it was almost impossible to pick just one. I went with Beautiful Bows merely because of her colours and pose. I had Bangles from this set as a child and she was my absolute favourite pony! But I also love the Tales set and the Family Friends and.......

Seems the Wiki is off by one year. Year 11 should be 1993 (First year of 7 Characters, Family Friends etc.), Year 12 should be 1994 (Surprise Twins Pony, Great Hair Ponies etc.), and Year 13 could be the final year 1995, with the Dutch re-colored characters.

It's a bit awkard using the "year" system with European releases, since they aren't as clear-cut as the US line. Especially not across all countries. But I guess it kind of works for the final years. The nesthäckchen babies and the Dutch final year of G1 ponies are the only ones I'm aware of that only had a limited release in certain parts of Europe.

Wouldn't 1994 be year 12? I don't know. I can fudge with the wiki a bit this break but I might not be able to get to it until December.

They're not years. UK and European MLP doesn't work in years in the same way as the US year 1 to year 10 system the mainstream sites like. But technically what is being talked about as year 11 is what hasbro in the UK called 1993

There are some serious problems with the what was sold when aspect of international ponies on the Wiki. I've mentioned it a lot of times but the last I heard was 4 years or so ago when Absol said she was working on it and that was that. Nothing has been done so it's still really messed up (more so than a lot of the individual pony pages are). Unfortunately because of how the releases were done, ponies outside the US don't fit neatly into the US ten year timeline, so it's a mess.

To the actual discussion point...I find it really hard to pick ONE pony from any year. I have problems sometimes choosing one in each set xD.

Like, I can't choose between Medley and Glory for year 2.
And don't even start with year 5...I was going to say Princess Pearl, but then I remembered Mountain Boys and Mimic are from 1987 too...

Year 1 - Cotton Candy
Year 2 - Oh, God, this one's hard, there are SO many ponies I love from this year, but I will go with Medley.
Year 3 - Another good year, but I have to go with Sparkler. I still have memories of being on a summer vacation with my family and my dad taking me to a toy store and letting me pick out a pony and Sparkler was the one I chose.
Year 4 - Fizzy. I <3 Fizzy.
Year 5 - Tic Tac Toe
Year 6 - Sherbet
Year 7 - Tap Dancer
Year 8 - Hula Hula (I love all the tropical ponies, really!)
Year 9 - Is it cheating if I chose Firefly in the Surprise pose?
