You could sort through pics of the old-gen pony toys by their Cutie Marks, or by what type of pony they were. It wasn't a wiki, it was a dedicated website and I forgot what it was called.

I don't know if it fits your description because it was before my time, but Dream Valley maybe?

Dream Valley organised stuff by year...it kind of defined that system, but I don't remember the site ever having a by-symbol kind of guide.

I am trying to think of any other site. There was Lavonia's page but I don't think it worked that way either. I think it operated much more on the DV system in terms of year and we're going back a bit anyway.

It's definitely not my site, that's never been done by symbol, and although I am working on a way to make quick ID easier for people using it...I am not currently planning on doing it by symbol. So I suspect Carrehz is probably right.

OP, if you are using Strawberry Reef for quick ID, please cross-reference information with other sites, as it hasn't been updated in a long time and contains some errors as a result.

Incidentally, I know the OP said it wasn't a wiki, but does the Wiki not have a function to search by symbol? It seems to have pretty much every other database on hand?

Ah, I wasn't quite sure how DV worked.

The wiki has a symbols by theme page which has all gens and a symbols by body color page that is G1. The symbols by theme is really useful: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Symbols_Grouped_by_Theme

That's what I thought...

OP, is Safflower's link of any help to you or is it specifically a certain site you are looking for?

Was it In to the Sea/My Little Pony? I think that one had the search by symbol/species/pony type.  I used it to identify some G3s I had.

My Little Pony Collector/Into the Sea also had a "by symbol" in its identification section but that site is long since gone... :(  that might have been the one you were thinking of.

LOL Ponyfan and I posted at the same time

edit2:  wait, wait is the PonyTracker.exe still available online somewhere????  that was a text-based application that helped ID ponies....

Oh, that brings back memories . . . I made PonyTracker.exe (if we're talking about the one called PonyTracker2000 . . . LOL, 2000 seemed so new at the time).  I wonder if I still have a copy on this computer.

Edit:  I did find a copy of it in a zipped file.  If anyone wants a copy, let me know.  It has a very simple DOS-like interface.  I can guarantee it doesn't contain viruses because I wrote it myself. :)

Dream Valley went down a while ago, and Strawberry Reef was the one I was looking for.

Thank you! Here, have a 2 for 1 coupon for my art commissions.

Glad to hear you found it!

There was one I used to spend loads of time on when I was first collecting. It's long gone by now, and all I recall was that it focused mostly on G1s and -  I thought - had a reddish-purple background. Can't for the life of me remember what the name was.
