Did you have any rare ponies as a kid?

Some MGR ponies are rare. At least 2 or 3 are under  $20, thankfully. I want one eventually.

Don't know how rare they are as rare is pretty relative.

But Princess Ruby (variant), Berrytown's, Baby Ruby, the bedtime newborns, Baby Candy, surprise twins mummy pony, surprise newborns, best friends babies, seven friends, cookery ponies, baby Mischief and baby lemondrop (were all bought new and I still have all their accessories -pretty much). Everyone else was secondhand but include: baby bridesmaid and baby fun and games, baby applejack, and Snowflake x2 (is she rare?).
To be honest until I was in my teens and the internet came about I had no idea any of these ponies were rare (ish) and it still throws me. Thankfully as a child I looked after my ponies and apart from a brief stint in the shed and their adventures in the backgarden they're all in pretty good condition.

But I have never seen Glory, Moondancer, Firefly or Medley in the UK, so from my point of view they're much rarer than any of the above.  *makes grabbyhands for Moondancer and Glory*

I wouldn't consider myself a 'kid' as far as most people who first got into MLP back in the 80's. I was around 11 in 1983 so I was in my pre-teens and teenager when I started collecting MLP.

Myself and my cousin did play with our ponies together, she was 4 years younger, so she would have been around 7 years old but unlike most kids we were never really rough or hard on our ponies.

So we both had ponies like Mimic,  a majority of them tended to sit on the shelf since since I had the mindset of a collector even back then. I have ponies like Rapunzel who has sat on a shelf for years now, other than the occational photo or things like that she was never played with and came to me directly from Hasbro. In fact all my mail order ponies were originally mine direct from hasbro except maybe 1 or 2 that I purchased off ebay.

This was me also.  Almost same age and I wish I had bought the ponies I wanted back then. I didn't own any rares as a kid.  I also don't remember seeing any of the rares in my babysitting families ponies either.

Yes! Agreed! The true rare ponies! Still boggles my mind how common they are in the US O.O.

I did not have any, I would have had the baby pony set but it sold out.

The rarest pony I had would be SS Angel.  I also had two flutter ponies with their wings (Honeysuckle and Peach Blossom), which is pretty rare.

I really regret not asking my parents for mail order ponies.  I cut out the horseshoe points and stared longingly at them in the brochures, but for some reason never actually asked for them.  So of course I never got anyway.  Oh well . . .

I didn't have any cool or rare ponies as a child. Sadly T__T Though I loved my Magic Star to pieces! A friend of mine had Mimic and I was sooooooo jealous because of the movie...

I started collecting when G4 came out. I was still a baby when I had some G3 pony, I don't know who she was and absolutely not sure she weren't a fakie. But I got all the rare G4s when I started buying ponies except Honeybuzz, Star Swirl, Cherry Pie, Cherry Berry and Skywishes. I was 15, I don't think this is considered "childhood" tho.

I don't know how rare they are, but I had Peach Blossom, Summer Wing Sky Dancer and Windy Wing Cool Breeze.  Technically, I still do.  Peach Blossom lost the tab base to her wings, but I still have the rest of them.  Cool Breeze has a mysterious orange spot on one leg.      But... that's as rare as mine got.   And gosh, I really really wanted Mimic.

Out of all the ponies I owned, G1 Starglow would probably be the rarest. All the rest were G3s.

I dont think I had any rare ponies when I was collecting. Unless you count the mail order rainbow poines. I had morning glory, baby ember the pink one with lavender hair, and Tex. That was about it.

Nah. I was a very common kid with very common ponies. I think the only one I had as a kid that's worth anything is the Chuck E Cheese pony. I was so thrilled when I was able to get her. I still have her too. Mint and pristine condition because even as a child, I treated my herd as more of a collection than playthings.

The only rare pony I had as a kid was one that wasn't trashed from all the hard play inflicted on my ponies.
