Dilemma! which one is worth keeping?
« on: July 27, 2017, 12:56:53 PM »
ok, so i have 2 morning glory and because of limited space and not being a fan of keeping ponies stored away i have decided to sell one. but i cannot decide witch one i find is in better condition. one has the original hair and nice factory curls but discoloration several places on her body that can not be removed and the other has a good condition body but unoriginal hair. witch one would you find more valuable?

Ei! I've been doing this lately too. Sometimes it's really hard to make a choice like this. I think it boils down to what YOU find more important in your collection. Me, personally? I'd keep the rehair. New hair doesn't bother me at all as long as it's a match to the original. But I know others think of original hair being more desirable since it IS original. Which I can understand. It's a hard choice. I'm anxious to see how others decide too.

I'd probably go with whichever one is in the bottom picture. Simply because she looks like she displays better than the first one.

I'd say the repair, she looks much nicer.

I would personally keep the rehaired over the more flawed one.

I'd keep the rehair if it doesn't bother you that it's not original, she looks so nice.

Ease of selling and price wise I don't know which would be worth more to sell. For some collectors original hair is worth more than a rehair even if the pony is a little damaged.

Definitely the rehair- she looks great.

Although the one in "original condition" might not sell for much- maybe $3?  The rehair might sell for more.

I am terrible: have a fearsome inability to 'let go' of ponies. So personally I agree with lostpony and would keep both. However the rehaired pony definitely displays better, and as you mentioned, her body is in much better condition than the 'completely original' pony. At the end of the day it is up to your own preference: good luck!

If it was a space issue I would probably sell both and put the money towards a mint one with original hair.

If that is not an option I am going against the masses; ) I wouln't keep a rehair. But if the other doesn't,meet your expectations then why not hold out for one that does? It really is about what makes you happy, and the fact you mentioned the rehairing as an issue suggests to me you are not really satisfied with either.

Morning Glory is not that uncommon so that would be my advice.

Taffeta makes a good point if you aren't entirely satisfied with either one.

Gee Taffeta I didn't realize you were a purist about original hair.

We have all sorts of different tastes here.  I'm more of the hoarding type.

I would think the first will clean up very nicely? The marks seem to be removable. What have you tried already? You can fix her hair as well. I think she will be great for display after putting in some effort ;).

And if you really want a better-looking one. I have one I think. She is small so the shipping won't be too bad (a few euro).

I'd keep the second one, though I'd also consider selling them both and buying another in better condition with the money

I'd keep the one with nicer hair.  I'm usually not big on rehairs, but that one is just really nice.
