Overheard at the salon: pony talk

So I was at the salon the other day . . . You may recall this is the same salon where I previously heard a lady ask if there were unicorns in MLP FIM, and upon being told there were, she said "Well, maybe I'll give it a shot then.  As long as there are UNICORNS."

Anyway, this time the customer in the chair next to me saw that the stylist had McDonalds versions of some of the ponies and said, "Those are cute, but you need Rarity and Fluttershy."

"Oh yes, Fluttershy is so sweet," the stylist said.  She mentioned that she also remembered "old My Little Pony" and liked it.  The customer also had seen some "old My Little Pony" and said "Yeah, I like them both."

(No way of knowing if "old MLP" was G1 or G3 of course. )

It was fun hearing people talk about My Little Pony "in the wild."

lol, if you were at my salon you'd hear pony talk about every time you're there!  I love pony talk in real life!  I keep a few McPonies in my station at all times for kids to play with when they get their hair cut

WOW that would be amazing to hear talk like that from people other than kids! I'm the only adult I know who collects or even knows anything about them! Most of what I hear is crickets chirping, followed by, "Are all those ponies really yours?" Lol

I love real life pony talk and yours was multi-generation yay!

I bet Taffeta's tales clip would go over very well there in context of pony gossip at the hairdresser.

Usually most of my in-the-wild pony talk goes along the lines of "Your kids must really like ponies" and I say "they're for me"

Heh hubby bought me one of the new purse ponies at a toy store near his work before Christmas and the cashier got excited and asked if hubby was a brony. Hubby was very blunt - it's for her, she's obsessed.. with a look at me. Brony cashier was much deflated, apparently grown women liking ponies is somewhat less cool than grown men liking them. We laughed all the way to the car - thank god hubby wasn't wearing his RD hoodie I got him at ponycon!
