That lasted not even ten minutes. She couldn't deal with the animation! She tolerates G3 animation but it's far from acceptable. Lololol. The flip side is we ended up watching the current show, which I actually have never seen and I heart it pretty hard.

Recently l bought some dvds with the G1 episodes. That brought back some good memories, still l think nowadays it wouldn't work so well. The storylines were nice but too innocent l would say.
The other day zapping on the TV l caught a glimpse of FIM but it was the end so l can't say anything about this show. Still l like the original one, even if you have to be prepared for it.  ^.^

Yeeeeesss I'm so glad you've seen FIM ^.^

I've never watched any of the G1 cartoons as a kid, other than the film. I'll have to give them a try :)

Ive had a hard time finding the complete episodes online except the pilot.  I bought the G1 DVDs only having a vague memory of most of the episodes. Overall I enjoy most of the G1 episodes although like everyone else there are a few I don't care for.

I can't wait to get a hold of a G1 DVD. I really feel like it's something I should/want to see based on what people I know have said.

I did give the G3 animation a try and it's okay, but I wasn't really feeling it. There was something about the voice overs that bugged me.

I assume G1 will go better since this time I'll have a very different set of expectations going into it.

The "Midnight Castle"/first G1 special has gorgeous animation that I think has held up very well, though of course if you're used to the post-Toy Story world you may not think so. The TV show was a lot rougher--completely different goals, production, timetable, etc.
Looking for CF Minty, excellent condition! (and maybe Snuzzle and Blue Belle)

The only thing l don't like about the show is the singing parts... but the rest is ok as far as you remember to put yourself in a 80's child mind ^^

Anyone know where to watch G1 online?

Someone uploaded all the TV recorded episodes onto Toontube.com.
Yes, they include the "last time", "next time", and "to be continued" segments.
They: You're too old to watch that show!
Me: Can't hear ya, I'm asleep.

I've watched some on Dailymotion. Maybe all of them are there. Just watched the ones I could not find anywhere else.

:OO I've never seen those! -zips off to watch-

If you're looking for DVD quality, I think all of the eps are on Dailymotion? At least they were last I checked.

Try Kiss Cartoon, they have just about everything on there as far as I could tell.

I'll admit, while there are some fun G1 stories, it's mostly for nostalgia that I watch it. In terms of quality and fun and great writing and animation, G4 is the best we've gotten. Nothing against the other series; I love them all in their own way, of course. :D

I've tried this on a couple of occasions at brony meetups, with G3 and 3.5 as well as G1. If there's too many people, they all try to riff on it at once and you end up hearing more of their commentary than the cartoon, and it's not too much fun.

Smaller groups have gotten much better results. We've had fun with Twinkle Wish Adventure and Quest of the Princess Ponies. The most memorable moment was during the latter when one guy just said, "what am I doing with my life?"  It still gives me a laugh.
