I love some of her concepts, but I really really REALLY do not like humans hanging out with MLPs.

I can agree the belief you need a human character for the kids to relate is lazy. However, a human character could serve a purpose. They would bring an outsider's perspective to the ponies world, and show how different from human the ponies are. They would have a character arc of becoming a part of a community who are radically different from their own. They just need to be important use while not overshadowing the ponies.
I'll be honest, I'm not really a fan of the art style xD
