Let's talk Variants

Of any gen! I'm focused on G1 today because a recent thrift find seems to be a variant. I know we used to have a big thread, I'm starting to suspect it was on the old arena I searched before posting.

Variants can be factory flaws, nirvana differences between countries if you'd like. I'm not going to limit us on pictures here.

So today I found a sunspot in a lot of g3s at goodwill. However she's a bit different to the one I had. Has original blush still so I'm assuming a factory variant? The more I look the more sunspots I see with the face all lopsided

I often wonder what was going on with the Sparkle ponies, since oddities do show up with mismatched tinsel in their manes and tails.

I was wondering about that too! The one with the pink tail looks like it has silver and the mane gold.

It almost looks like one has the symbol reversed!

My Sunspot has silver tinsle in her tail I think I would prefer if she matched...

OMG!! I had no idea! I have two Sun Spots that are similar but one also has a switched sun face.

Both facing the same way on this side:

It also looks like the right one the yellow center of the sun is really not centered either.

That's a sneaky but cool variant!

Hmmm... I don't know if I'd call it a reverse symbol without more examples to support two different variations.   It could be the eyes and mouths weren't exactly lined up on center, that as long as they were within the yellow circle, it passed quality inspection.  Look how the yellow spot is a little off-center from the pink sunrays.  I believe these symbols were applied in layers, like 3 different stamps (first pink sunrays, second yellow circle, third pink face).   

If it is reversed, we should see the pink sunrays reversed too, and that's not what I see when I count and compare the long and short points. I think it's just sloppy placement
