How can you tell if a G4 pony is fake?

Hi guys,

I recently bought a bunch of ponies online and when they have arrived something just doesn't feel right, I mean they are stamped hasbro and have the mlp emblem under the hoof but there is still something i dont quite like.

Are there bootlegs/fakies which resemble the real deal?

Fakies are fakies. They resemble real ponies but aren't made by Hasbro and don't try to pass themselves off as the real thing (as far as manufacturer, packaging and markings go). They'll look similar but there are usually some big tells if you know what you're looking for even if the packaging is close.

You're talking about a possible actual counterfeit pony - that's different. There are always giveaways, but with so many factory errors and variations in each production run, you've gotta have a well trained eye.

If you bought them on the grey market from China, they could very well also be seconds or rejects...
