Customizing a Playtime Baby Brother?
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:14:11 AM »
Has anyone had any recent luck customizing one of the playtime baby brothers with the peek-a-boo heads?

I got this little guy in a lot of baits off Ebay. He was painted up to look like Tex, but he felt like he was drowning in paint so I removed it in hopes of letting him breath again. Turns out beneath all that paint were little rodent bite marks, I think. I'm planning on trying to fill those in and re-customizing him. He even has yellow paint still stuck in his hair. I'm just a little worried about his head/neck mechanism and getting him back together after I've painted and rehaired him. I'd appreciate any experienced tips or advice on it.

I've done a rehair

and a full custom

basically the neck mechanism is funny. when you pop the head off, the mechanism will pop out of the body and remain in the head (most likely). Then I use an xacto knife to carefully cut around the mechanism in the head (like of like cutting around the neck plug in a G4's body). I glue the mechanism back into the head with tacky glue when done, and just pop the body part back together after the head is FULLY dry

Oh Roogna, your customs and rehairs are always so gorgeous!!! I'm jealous.

So my question is you only need to glue the mechanism back into the head and not the neck as well?

thank you!

I"m pretty sure I did not glue the neck into the body part...b/c it just pops back in. For display and occasionally moving the head around it's fine. the custom and rehair have held up well
but you could probably add some. there's just the tiny lip where it connects the two though...
