What is "cool" with 6 year olds and teenagers just now?

They're doing a backpack drive at work--basically taking donations of backpacks filled with school supplies to donate to kids in need.  They said they are particularly low on "pink backpacks for young girls" (I imagine this means kindergarten to 2nd grade age) and "cool backpacks for teenagers".   

I have no idea what teenagers would consider a cool backpack.  Could those of you with teenagers ask them?  Links to Amazon products would be particularly helpful!  I am looking for backpacks under $25.  (The teen backpacks can be for any gender.)

For the young girls I figure I'll grab a G4 backpack, but I might do a second one . . . What, other than MLP, is popular with little girls just now?

Personally, I'd get a Disney backpack. Maybe Doc McStuffins.

Any jansport backpacks are popular because they have a lifetime warranty on defects. They have great pockets and so many patterns. Also, outside pockets for a water bottle is wanted.

I work with middle schoolers.  I seem to recall my 8th graders having a lot of black, or neutral backpacks.  I'd second that Jansport is good, but I know they can be pricey.  Nothing bright, neon or flashy. 

My young niece likes Frozen, Disney princess.  Sanrio (Hello Kitty) is also still popular, as is Minions (but I don't think those are pink.)

I know Shopkins is all the rage this year with young girls. I'm sure Walmart or Target have backpacks featuring those characters.

And of course, you can't go wrong with anything Disney.

I'm in college, so I'm not totally in the teenager demographic anymore, but my Jansport backpack has gotten more compliments from other students at my university than any other item/accessory I own!  It has a pattern that is best described as "space kittens"    I know Jansport has lots of other cool and funky patterns, too!  Plus, I've used it heavily for two years now (I'm an English major so I haul around A LOT of books) and it looks like I just bought it yesterday even though I've had it out in all kinds of weather.  It's easily the best backpack I have ever owned.  The space kittens are just a bonus lol.

I second the Shopkins. I've heard a lot of girls talking about them in the toy section. Also Frozen is still pretty popular with young girls. Disney Princess, Sofia the first, Doc McStuffins, any of those I think would be good choices for a girl backpack.

As with everyone else, Shopkins, Disney, Ever After High, etc. I just recently went birthday shopping for my six year old niece. I spent $30 and got her a two-pack of Ever after High dolls (it was $15 on clearance) and a Monster High Mouscedes doll ($10 on clearance). Then I got her a shopkins coloring book and some play-doh and she seemed very excited about it. Maybe that helped! As for teenagers, I have no idea what guys like lol. But girls, makeup could never go wrong. Maybe pickup some drugstore makeup or perfumes and make it a little beauty bag.

For teenagers, galaxy print and floral print! I'm in college now but I see a TON of those...and what teen doesn't want to look like the cool college kids they see, y'know? :p

Also anything that feels really durable...one of the most annoying things about a backpack is when you get little holes in the bottom, or the straps start pulling off - especially when you have to carry as many books as highschoolers do!

A durable backpack is pretty important, especially for kids in foster care as that's where they keep everything they own and have to move around a lot.  I love doing the backpack gift thing.
