These are 2 "books" - they are about 13.5 inches by 8.5 inches and each of the books is about 1 inch thick.  They appear to be copies of Hasbro MLP art guidelines and samples.  Each has hundreds and hundreds of pages - some of the pages are double width and fold out to about 24" or greater.  I don't even remember where we got it anymore.  Anyone jog our feeble memories?  Shots of the covers and a couple random pages.  The last date on any page is shown above as  REVISED June 18 1986

Those are just like mine! Phew! Thought I was going to cry that I didn't have them!

I got mine from eBay, around 2001 I think, I still carry them around in the package they came in

The ponies in general have more detail to them rather the Transformers.  Curves and details compared to those polygonal robots.  The ponies and other characters have actual irises, not something you see in Transformers.

Character design was one of G1 TF's strongest points.  They have a very complex design compared to, for example, the GoBots.

(Which I think is part of the reason they crushed them in terms of popularity.)  But of course a more detailed design does mean more room for error . . .

Did they seriously use his wiper blades for expressions?  Yeah, Transformers were definitely more detailed than the Go-Bot in all their forms.  I just look at the ponies and think they were harder to draw and move convincingly.

I picture the Mushromp as being the foot of the valley, where the rivers fill a swampy area that filters into an aquifer.  So, it might be the "rump" of the valley.
