your LAST childhood pony
« on: June 01, 2016, 08:40:16 AM »
Do you remember who the last pony you got as part of your childhood collection was?

Mine was Sweet Pocket. I was sick and my mom took me to the grocery store for soup and stuff and she let me pick out a pony. They had her and Princess Tiffany. Princess Tiffany was too expensive, so I got Sweet Pocket instead. I didn't know she was going to be the last! I was in middle school.

One of these days I shall buy MIB Princess Tiffany.

Bouquet.  :)  I remember picking her because she was a white unicorn.  I didn't like her masses of hair, though.  When I tried to brush it, some of the bristles on her brush actually snapped off.  She was fortunate that I wasn't the kind of child who cuts pony hair or I would have hacked it all off!

Mostly I had her "unicorn duel" with Fizzy since they were in the same pose.

Mine were two, Teeny Weeny ponies Little Honey Pie and Little Giggles. We got them with Esso tokens (did anyone else have those, were they just a UK thing?) My little sister got Little Lullabye and Secret Surprise pony Shining Secret at the same time. It was a good day!! I still have all my childhood ponies :)

Jules x

My sister got one more pony after that, with those tokens as well, Pocket Friends pony Hopping Pocket. I got a Sindy at the same time. Those tokens were ace!!

Newborn Baby Tappy.   At the time, I didn't know ponies were still being made, so I was thrilled to find her in a grocery store.

I got Twinkler the sparkle pony at a store. I really cant remember which store. She was my last childhood pony. Ironically I kept her and Curly Locks. I have not a clue as to why.. maybe because of their color? I remember Twinkler being purple and sparkly.

Mine was either Baby Palm Tree or Baby Pearly. I still have Baby Pearly but not Baby Palm Tree.

I'm going to assume we're talking about G1 here, since many of us are still buying other gens from stores. ;)

And, dragonfly, that's weird that your store had both Tiffany and Sweet Pocket, since they were released in different years. What country are you in?

The last childhood G1 pony I picked out for myself was Baby Princess Sparkle with her Buggy - a very good choice, I think! But later I received one more, Baby Sweetsteps, for my birthday from my friend Carrie.

A few years later my friend Amy went to Scotland and found a few more late-release G1 UK ponies gathering dust in a corner at a Toys R Us. She brought back Nurse Loveheart, the Kitchen, and the Bed & Crib set. Those were my last G1 ponies bought the regular way, new from the store, so I consider them to be my last childhood ponies, even though I was in college then. By that time I had been buying used ponies from flea markets for years, and even started online trading in the early days (this was around 1996). So there was actually a lot of overlap between what I consider my childhood collection and ponies I got secondhand.

Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Half Note :) the only pony I got new from the store as well. I had ponies but didn't really figure out they were actively in stores until near the end of G1.

Mine was Pony Bride which my aunt gave me for my 9th birthday. Still have her^^ I named her Dove for the symbol and the fact she's white.

The last pony I got as a kid was most likely Cloud Climber; those were the days when I'd get my pocket money every weekend and pick out a lovely new pony! :D

This is really hard for me actually. O.o.

We had a lot of ponies from a clearance store and carboot in the middle 1990s, but I guess that putting the ponies in the attic for a year is the threshold...so it would be the last pony I got in 1993 or so, before making that decision.

And do I remember who it is?

Hrm. Not really O.O. I used to save up pocket money and my sister and I bought a lot of baby ponies from Children's World at that time, as they were...

AH! I do know actually :) It was either the Birthday Pony (GeburtstagsPony, as she came in a German box, and I called her Juli) or Princess Sparkle (in French box, Princesse de Lumiere). I'm pretty sure it's one of those two as they were imports and that happened right at the end of the line here.

They were also on sale.

But I don't remember which it was. Maybe Lumi, because she was 100% mine - I think Juli is one my sister and I both chipped in on.
