Bouquet Restoration, Pic Heavy

So what would you do with a pony that looked like this?

I decided to restore her, and in all of my restorations I always add a unique feature.

First I had to clean her, she was smelly.  Oxyclean bath and peroxide plus baking soda helped remove some of the inground nastyness.  I rehaired her using dolly hair for her red and yellow stripe. Rit dye was used on the pink section.

Next, I took care to repaint her symbols and eyes.

And now...for the big reveal!  For a twist, and to hide a few flaws...I pearlized Bouquet!

And as an added bonus, her mechanism is still functioning!  WIN!

She's so pretty! :D Great work. How did you make her pearly?

I used a pearlizing medium I found at Joann and applied a clear high gloss acrylic over it. I used a sponge brush and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Holy smokes, that's quite an amazing change! I would have thought she was a goner. That's so cool that you were able to breathe new life into her. :lovey:

She looks awesome!

Can you tell me more about the oxiclean bath and the peroxide/ baking soda methods you used to clean her with?  I've never used those methods before and I have a Princess Tiffany that just isn't as white as I'd like her to be.

Amazing work! Bouquet must be happy now that she's pearlized :).
I am honestly amazed at how some users like you can take a pony who appears to have no hope and return her to beyond their former glory.

Can you tell me more about the oxiclean bath and the peroxide/ baking soda methods you used to clean her with?  I've never used those methods before and I have a Princess Tiffany that just isn't as white as I'd like her to be.

I boiled this pony in oxiclean after scrubbing her with a magic eraser and dawn.  Next, I took a toothbrush and scrubbed her again with baking soda mixed with a little water and peroxide.  I still wasn't happy so I made a paste mixing baking soda and peroxide until it was kind of like toothpaste.  I put it on the really bad marks and let her sit in a sunny window all day.  The next day I removed it and reapplied it.  I did this over a week. Most of the marks faded except the one over her eye which was so bad it left a small pinhole.  I did notice that it whitened her quite a bit, I would be careful around eyes and symbols.  I would be a little leary using this method on a pony that wasn't white.
