Eurovision Song Contest 2016
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:11:15 PM »
It's that time of the year again! So, who's following the Eurovision contest this year?  Today's the first semi-final and Finland kicks off the contest... in a couple of minutes' time I guess. Let's see how we do this year!

The D-Day is on Saturday, for those who are not as excited as some of us. :P

I only watch it for the dodgy scoring. And daft outfits. And cheesy backing dancers. And for the weirdest staging. And cheer at whoever gets  'Nil Pwa' as I used to think it was spelled. But also in the UK we've got the commentary of Graham Norton to keep us laughing too.

That's exactly why I watch it. :P (We don't get commentary from Graham Norton though.)

One of these days I'll have my own living room, so I can host a Eurovision party. :(

I usually watch the performances because it's a low effort way to find a few new songs I like, but everything this year seems so generic. Snore! :P Austria's entry is nice though.

I've not seen it for years but for once I don't work on a saturday evening so if nothing else turns up I might give it a go. Our singer sucks this year. From what I hear from those who watched the take outs it had to be staged as no one claims to have voted on him. The theory is we don't want to win this year as we can't afford to host again next year. I love those conspiracy theories, hilarious.

France is not very good at Eurovision  :P we are always in the very last places!! lol

The only thing which makes me a bit sad about Eurovision is that more and more the songs are in English language.

Please do not be offended all nice members from country with English as official Language  ^.^ I do love English for sure !!

But to my mind Eurovision should show and present us lovely songs in different languages. This would be great to hear real different languages   ;)

This year Austria will present a song in French language, this is very nice from them  ^.^ but I would love to hear a german song for Austria and a song in French for France and not a bilingual song

That was yesterday? I totally missed it. Not that I mind though as I'm not interested, I was just surprised that it's already time for it again. Did a year pass so fast?

I am also a big follower of this contest for years. I only watch the semi finals if I get to it. Most of the years I saw the finale with friends. I also hope the Dutch Bob will end up high.

@Bibinette if the singers were good too it would help a lot to like the french language. Look at Switzerland 1988 with Celine Dion :)
