PC on small symbol Nightlight (possible factory error/OOAK?)

I've just acquired a small symbol Nightlight/Nachtlicht, in generally very good condition (only minor wear to symbols) but her feet are strange to me.

One foot says Hong Kong, but the other foot that I assume would have '83 HASBRO' stamped on it, instead has what looks like melted plastic by a darker blue. It doesn't look like an individual has done this because it looks too perfect (and why would someone do it anyway?). All I can assume at the moment is it's a factory error. Would that make her OOAK?

Has anybody seen this before? And any idea of a price check?

Interesting! I just checked my small symbol Nightlight and she has the same glob in her front hoof. I am very curious to know if anyone knows why this is.

Your Nightlight looks to be in similar condition to mine and I paid $120 for her. Good luck!

Glob aside, she is beautiful! I love nightlight and would hope to have her someday...

I thought maybe it was an error with only small symbol Nightlight's, but after a quick Google search, I found one listed on eBay a while ago and the feet were stamped 'Hasbro 83' as would be expected.

I have just today received a small symbol Rainbow, she has Hong Kong on one foot and the glob on the other foot where the date should be. So.... I know that doesn't help at all. But it adds to the story.

I don't know why they did that, but a lot of Nightlights (maybe all of them?) have that. I'm pretty sure my Raindrop has it as well.  Looks like it was done by hand, which seems like it would be really time consuming.

WERE ponies still made in Hong Kong at the time Nightlight and Raindrop were made?  What I'm wondering is if they really meant to put the blob over "Hong Kong" (if the ponies were made in China by then), but through miscommunication they ended up covering "Hasbro '83" instead.

This is FASCINATING. My Nightlight's foot glob only partially conceals the '83 stamp. It definitely could've been done by hand!

Yep all the Nightlight's I've had or have now came with the glob. I'm unsure why but yep it's there

How strange! I have a nightlight and I have never noticed a glob! But I will be checking as soon as I get home from work!

They were made in HK in 1987 in Europe still. We had a shift here but it didn't happen until a year or two later. Hummelchen's card is clearly dated 1987.

Your pony is normal, not an error or ooak I've seen plenty of Raindrops and Nightlight's, including my own with this odd glob.

The stamp they wanted to remove or cover up is the pat pend stamp

There are other ponies who just have the pat pend mark either scraped or melted away with the date left alone.

All of the German Rainbow set (Starshine, Moonstone, Skydancer, Flutterbye,  Nightlight and Raindrop) were made in hong kong as Taffeta said.
