I've gotten them a few times vending at conventions. I hold onto them and trade them to my dad for singles since he hoards 2 dollar bills for some reason.

The one piece of currency I can get and know immediately where someone is from; those one dollar Sacajawea coins from eons ago. Literally the only place I know that still gives those as change is the Los Angeles Metro machines where you can buy and reload fare cards. I have no idea where the LADOT gets them, but they've had them in those machines for years.

we actually have them here all over, there was a big explosion of them when they first came out, then people realized that a lot of change operated machines wouldn't accept them, they kinda rejected them. However they must have changed that, where I go to do laundry they have a coin machine, if you put in a 10 dollar bill you get 5 of those coins and the rest in quarters. So Iv ended up with a bunch of them that I just keep aside for laundry day day. xD

Me! I have a few somewhere that I got as a gift. I also have Canadian coins somewhere too and a stash of Sacajawea coins. They belonged to my uncle, he used to collect coins and polished rocks and i inherited a small portion of his collection!

xD I didn't realize I was THAT old? but I still remember them being in normal circulation and the whole debate on whether or not to do away with them haha. One of them is all tattered and crumbling because I kept it in my shoe during Marching band performances. My grandpa gave it to me so I could buy a snack after our halftime routine. (no pockets in our uniforms) Forgot to get a snack and just kinda kept it in my shoe for the whole season as a goodluck thing. :p
Lol, I used to keep money in my shoe during Marching Band, too! :)

Yeah, I had some $2 bills that I kept as a kid. I don't know where they are anymore, though. But I am totally not surprised that there are people who don't know what a $2 bill is. There are a lot of very ignorant people in the world... (especially in the early education business, sadly.)

My parents have loads of them.  My dad gets a kick out of using them to pay for stuff- people FREAK OUT every time and scramble around so that they can try to keep the $2 bill.  It is pretty amusing...

^lol

I have one somewhere around here...

I'd be furious if the school and police did that to my child.  It doesn't take that much effort to figure out.  They could have at least bought her lunch.

Have a small stack of 13 on my desk, and 8 of them are is sequential order. With them are 2 'Silver certificate' $1 bills if anyone knows what those are.

My mom brought home the 8 when A guy paid with a few.

According to the coin shop in town, they aren't rare and being in order dosen't make them anymore special. Just uncommon as they aren't widely used.

I have a silver certificate $2 bill that someone spent while I was working at a McDonald's.  The manager knew I liked to trade for the odd coins that came through (I worked in a mall and for some reason people spent all sorts of foreign coins there-mostly pennies) so she let me trade two $1 bills for it.

Haha my grandparents used to give them to me on Easter! My mom saved all of mine. Looks like we all have tons of $2 bills hidden away!
